We are happy to have Eden Winters visiting Smexy today. Her second book in her m/m romantic suspense series, Collusion, just released.
I’ve known some writers who know in advance that they’re going to write six serialized books. They outline, they plan, and then they write.
I’ve never written a series. “What?” you say? Goodreads clearly shows that I have several series available: The Angel of 13th Street, The Match Before Christmas, and the Diversion series. And yet… I’ve never written a series.
Each novel was intended as a stand-alone. Some, as in the case of The Match Before Christmas series, was continued because readers asked for more, in particular, about a side character from the first installment. The Angel of 13th Street characters continued to speak to me, prompting a few short stories and two more novels, the second now released, and the third on my hard drive, where it may stay for a while.
Diversion? Well, Bo may have continued to speak to me—Lucky yelled. The plots came fast and thick, barely giving me enough time to take notes. This grumpy, average-Joe-with-an-attitude and no brain-to-mouth filter took over my life. The result? Collusion. Was Lucky happy? Well, yes and no. All other works in progress got shuffled to the side for a very pushy character.
As unplanned as it was, an (another) accidental series was born. As of this writing, two more installments are demanding my time: Corruption, in which mild-mannered Bo gets a chance to shine, and all I can say about book four, Manipulation, is that two years ago Lucky was given a new life—now his old one wants him back.
When you step out the door each morning, there’s no telling where the day will lead you. And when you sit down and start writing, the same holds true.
Blurb: Dead men can’t love.
Former drug trafficker Richmond “Lucky” Lucklighter “died” in the line of duty while working off a ten-year sentence in service to the Southeastern Narcotics Bureau, only to be reborn as Simon “Lucky” Harrison. The newbie he trained, former Marine Bo Schollenberger, is now his partner on (and maybe off) the job. It’s hard to tell when Lucky doesn’t understand relationships or have a clue what any sane human is doing in his bed. Bo’s nice to have around, sure, but there’s none of that picking-out-china-together crap for Lucky.
While fighting PTSD, memories of a horrid childhood, and a prescription drug addiction, Bo is paying for his mistakes. Using his pharmacy license for the good guys provides the sort of education he never got in school. Undercover with his hard-headed partner, Bo learns that not everything is as it seems in the world of pharmaceuticals.
When a prescription drug shortage jeopardizes the patients at Rosario Children’s Cancer Center, it not only pits Bo and Lucky against predatory opportunists, but also each other. How can they tell who the villains are? The bad guys don’t wear black hats, but they might wear white coats.

Although Collusion is a sequel, it was written so that readers wouldn’t need to read the first book in the series, Diversion, to follow the story. However, Diversion is currently available at Amber Allure, an imprint of Amber Quill Press. http://www.amberquill.com/AmberAllure/Diversion.html
Collusion, now available from Amber Allure.
