I love motorcycle club books. I can’t help it. I love it when the hero is all bossy. I love the motorcycle club culture. The politics, the aggression, the overly alpha men. I want to be someone’s “sweet butt.” What?
So when this review request came my way I gobbled it up. Overall I liked this one, although I did have some frustrations along the way. Let me set it up. Tori Baldwin has a very traumatic past and now can’t settle down. Driving into a small Oregon town one day, she decides to set up her coffee shack (which she runs out of a trailer) in the local town. Unknown to her, she has plopped herself down in prime motorcycle territory, belonging to the Bantorus motorcycle club. The majority of the members happen to be out of town when she settles, so she is not aware she has broken any rules until they arrive home. She soon meets the president of the club, Rain Brookshire. He owns bars, hotels and other real estate in town. He isn’t happy some woman has made herself at home on his land. To further frustrate him, a rival motorcycle club is riding into town and he has a bad history with them. This club deals in drugs and many other bad things (something the Bantorus club stays far away from) and his ex-girfriend screwed him over for the leader of this club. So Rain is not happy to see them coming into town. When their leader gets wind that Rain may have a new woman, he fears retaliation against Tori.
Rain is your typical motorcycle guy. He calls Tori “babe,” he is very bossy, he wears a leather vest with no shirt (is that sexy? I can’t decide). He is 36 to her 24. It doesn’t take him long to put his stamp all over her so no one else can claim her. Tori has dark secrets in her past that still haunt her today. Otherwise she is a very cheerful, somewhat naïve girl who gets dumped into an intense culture. She becomes a quick favorite with the guys as she serves them coffee and hands out free love advice. I wish they hadn’t fallen for each other quite so quickly, it seemed really abrupt. But Rain probably wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Overall this book has a good pace, action, and tons of bossy words that come out of Rain’s mouth. I liked it. But like I said, it’s not perfect. One of my frustrations is that I don’t think we really get to know the Bantorus culture all that well. We don’t get to see a lot of Rain with his men, without Tori there. I wanted to see more of the daily workings of the club. That is one of my favorite parts while reading these books.I also thought the threat from the rival motorcycle club felt weak, because again, although they are in town, we really don’t get to see them until late in the book.
Tori and Rain and have a lot of back and forth in this one. They don’t’ really trust each other at first, which I liked, but Tori threatening to leave every other chapter did get a bit old. She has bouts of immaturity. I also think the sex scenes could have been a little more drawn out. They seemed to go by quite quickly. They have good sexual banter out of the bedroom, but it seemed rushed once we got to the nakey parts.
But, even with those things, I still liked this book and I think fans of motorcycle books would like it for the most part too.
Quick note: This author has a new series coming out this summer, The Hard Body Series. Keeping my eye on it for sure.

leather vest no shirt = no lady boner. I’m against it. LOL.
I think I’m gonna have to pass on this one. Sounds like heroine is a bit too immature and it would annoy me that he feels that she can’t open a business in “his” town…

Yeah the shirtless vest is a bit corny, but I am a sucker for MC books so I am going to give it a go.
