Alice Mitchell has spent her life building an erotic luxury goods online store that caters to the rich and discreet. When well known playboy journalist, Flynn O’Grady, begins to write a series of articles that mocks her customers and their toys, using her store as an example, Alice decides that Flynn needs a proper lesson. And who better to deliver that then her?
Flynn believes that boredom in the bedroom doesn’t need spice…it needs a change in partners. Using all her knowledge, skill, and toys, Alice sets out to show Flynn that monogamy can be fun when you change the rules, rather than the partner.
Alice’s Wonderland is a short story, only 100 pages, but delivers an erotic romance with humor, sensuality, and a sweet emotional undertone. The first half is extremely naughty as Alice seduces Flynn by visiting his office each night, enacting an elaborate game of cat and mouse. Alice wants to show Flynn that toys and role playing are merely accessories in a healthy relationship; not the making or breaking of it.
I enjoyed meeting Alice. She’s sexy, funny, and completely in control of her sexuality. She feels no shame for her business nor her lifestyle. Flynn is like Alice in many ways; confident and sexy with a healthy ego. Their interactions are quite naughty and fun, though I was a little surprised by how fast they consummated their relationship. It’s all fun and games until their hearts become involved. Both Alice and Flynn use their jobs to shield their hearts. Alice hides behind her sex toys while Flynn hides behind his nonchalant attitude towards love. As our couple struggles to find common ground, we lose the sexy times and see more of the emotional heartache they suffer from a relationship that was only supposed to be physical.
There are some misunderstandings that drags the storyline down. There is more time spent internally musing rather then communicating with each other which is frustrating. Our couple eventually worked their way through it all with the help of friends and some serious soul searching. An erotic romance that reads quick and hot with a dash of humor and angst to round it out.
