10. Game of Thrones Fans – SUMMER IS COMING. *giggle*
9. Can we all do a little squeeee?? Marked by Lauren Dane, Vivian Arend and Kit Rocha – together in one book? It’s not coming until Feb 2014, but we can make it, right? Go HERE for the blurbs.
8. Chloe Neill has posted the FIRST chapter of Biting Bad. She also has a contest to win a signed arc. Go HERE for all the deets.
7. Tomorrow (Saturday May 18th) is the Frederick Book Festival. Those local to MD, PA, VA etc should come check it out. There will be a bunch of authors, panels and book talk. Myself, Marq from Love to Read for Fun, Joy from Joyfully Reviewed and Katie @YoungLibrarian will be doing a panel at 10am about blogging. Looking forward to a fun day!
6. You guys. I haven’t read every single Kristen Ashley book like Tori has. I KNOW! I have failed. Anyway – I started Lady Luck because Pamela said there is a marriage of convenience and I LOVE a marriage of convenience. I’m only at 10% but I love the set up. The hero (HUGE tatt guy who barely talks) has been in prison for five years (I don’t know why yet) and the day he gets out the heroine picks him up (they have never met – she was kinda forced to) The NEXT day he offers her $50,000 to marry him (not sure why he needs a wife). So off to Vegas they go.
I’m in love y’all. IN. Love. Goodreads l Kindle
5. To transition into the man smut portion of the Top Ten, I give you a flower whose petals look like naked men. Yeah – get up close in look. Go HERE for a bigger picture. They have little arms and legs and wee wees y’all. Nakey men flowers. Not sure I can top this. (Thank you Tori for finding this)
4. Speaking of little wee wees, here is a clip of Jensen Ackles dancing. Thanks to Rachel for tweeting it.
3. Oh HELL no. Hot dogs are kinda gross but stuffed with BACON??? It has gone from gross to epic amazingness.
If you don’t want to ingest a bacon dog (wimps!) you can now still get that bacon aroma by just lighting a candle.
Not sure if you can see in this pic (Larger one HERE). But Yankee candle has come out with “Man Scents” – Bacon being one of them. Also included, Man Town, Riding Mower, Movie Night, and First Down.
Let me just say this – I live with three males – in no way do I need any other “SCENTS” in this house. My little lavender candle can barely keep up as it is.
2. A very cute list of kids who have “Sold out Their Parents.”
It’s kind of scary to think about what your kids have told their teachers about you. Stuff you will probably never know. When my son was in preschool, he had to draw a picture of me and the teacher writes on the bottom what he described. Except, when I went to pick him up his description was blank. So I asked – and she awkwardly said – Jackson told us he drew a picture of you in jail. I have never been to jail!! I’ve never even had a speeding ticket. Ever! So I tell her all this and of course come off as very defensive and she as just like – oooooh kay honey. Damn kids!
He is in third grade now – He has had years to tell stories about me. *sobs* I’m not the only one, right?
1. You guys – the Powerball is now over $600 million. Tomorrow isn’t only the Frederick Book Festival, but also my parents epic Preakness party and THEN I’ll win $600 million bucks. It’s gonna be a good weekend y’all! Happy Friday!
Hell Cat says
Boo, if you win $600 million, can you manage to make rig it so I win enough take home for about $3 million the next time? Cause, you know, I gotta do crap and money seems to be demanded. Silly people wanting my money.
Also, authors like to be paid when you read their ish, too.
Mandi says
I’ll totally rig it. I’ll get right on that ;)
Tori says
When the kid was in preschool she had to draw a picture of her family. The teacher asked if T was her stepfather. When I asked why, she showed me the pic which showed daddy as being extremely dark complected. She also said my job was to ask for money and shop. *sigh*
I so want to try bacon hotdogs.
Lady Luck is one of my all time fav KA books.
Mandi says
Bahahahaha to your daughter. I’m glad I’m not the only one :)
Monica Z says
OMG! I love Ty and Lexie. This is hands down my fav KA book. I’m so jealous you are reading it for the first time!
Mandi says
Oooooooh..this excites me!
Jo (My House of Books) says
I have to say I’m intrigued by Yankee Candles’ Riding Mower scent. I do love the way fresh-cut grass smells. Reminds me of growing up out in the sticks!
Mandi says
That scent does sound nice. I LOVE fresh cut grass
Jennifer Estep says
I got a coupon for those bacon candles in the mail this week. I can’t decide if the bacon hot dogs look really good or really not good. LOL.
Mandi says
I’d say probably not so good. I’d go with the bacon candle instead. ;)
Amy says
OMGGGG I LOVE Ty and Lexie! One of my all time crack re-reads from KA!
Mandi says
REALLY? SQUEEEEE
Helyce says
I was thinking the Yankee candle thing was a joke until Jennifer said she got a coupon. Their marketing people must b high! Fun top ten as usual Mandi! And, er, r u gonna share that $600 million if u win it? *wink*
Mandi says
MAYBE. If I can spare some change ;)
Amanda says
Except for Riding Mower I am wary of the “Man Scents” especially Man Town. I just do not see how something named Man Town could smell good.
Mandi says
Exactly. Man Town…who came up with this?
Kini says
Lady Luck is a fantastic book! It is my second favorite KA book. 1st is Heaven and Hell. I think you will love it!
And again I’m super excited about the FBF tomorrow. Right in my little town, I will definitely say hi!
Mandi says
Yay – can’t wait to meet you!
Texas Book Lover says
When my husband was little he told his teachers that his parents kept his little sister locked in the attic. At first they blew him off but he was very adamant and kept to his story until they finally sent a police officer over to speak to his parents and search their attic. Which of course did NOT contain any sisters…or to his dismay his actual brother.
Mandi says
OMG!!! This story definitely wins!! This makes me laugh so much. His poor parents.
Lammie says
I also Love marriage of convenience stories. I have not read any Kristen Ashley books yet, so I will definitely give this a try. Do I need to read the other books in the series first, or is it ok as a stand alone? I am kind of OCD in wanting to read all books Ina series in order, but I know it is often not necessary.
Mandi says
This is the first I’ve read in the series and I’m not sure I would have even noticed there were other books. I’m only at 10% though…but pretty sure it does well as a stand alone.
You should also try Motorcycle Man – my Fav Ashley book!
Tabs says
I remember there being a spot in “Lady Luck” where the “whodunnit” from the previous book is spoiled in passing. If you’re a stickler for that, I would read “Sweet Dreams” first. However, you don’t have to read the first in the series, “The Gamble,” as it’s set in a different town and is only loosely related to the rest of the books.
Mandi says
Ah thx!
blodeuedd says
LOL! I love the nekkid men
Mandi says
hehe. It made me snort
Joseri says
My 5 year old came home from school the other week with a questionnaire filled out about me. Apparently I like to watch “Adult Movies”. I was horrified at what at the teacher thought about that!
Mandi says
bahahaha. I can’t imagine the things teachers see/hear. LOL
Selena Mc says
I wish I had of known you were gonna be at Frederick Book Festival! I was thinking about going. So sad :(
Mandi says
Oh noes :(
One day we will meet. ONE DAY! LOL
We should just meet for drinks or something one night.
KT Grant says
Throne of Noodles. Hee
Spaz says
I AM SO HAPPY YOU ARE READING LADY LUCK!!!!! *ahem, excuse me*
Glad you’re liking it!!! :D :D
aurian says
Lol, I can tell you all, that orchid really exists. In Dutch it would be monkey orchid or something like that. And I think I would drive my boyfriend nuts with a bacon scented candle, he loves to eat bacon.
