Lorilei Adams was forced to take on a larger role when her pack was being terrorized by another pack. Having lost everything that meant something to her, Lorilei is physically and mentally tired and ready to give it all up to the alphas of Green Pine Sanctuary.
Colin has spent his life as an enforcer for the council. He was their judge, jury, and executioner against rogue wolves, but he never looked beyond the kill to the survivors. Exhausted and weary himself, he just want to rest.
Colin meets Lorilei and his protective instincts roar to the surface. Colin finds himself struggling not to just take what he wants. Lorilei is attracted to Colin as well but she only wants a physical distraction. Colin wants it all though and soon begins his uneasy seduction.
When an unknown and malicious magic begins to affect the residents of Green Pines, Colin and Lorilei must put aside their uneasiness and work together to discover the person(s) behind the magic. They soon find themselves in a malstorm where passion, lust, friendship, and responsibility all blend together and the final outcome rests completely on their shoulders.
Haunted Wolves is the second book in Moira Roger’s Green Pines Series. A dark seductive paranormal romance that is the perfect blending of dynamic action, heartbreaking drama, and enough hot, intense loving that will have you wanting your very own alpha. This supernatural thriller is guaranteed to keep you engaged till the very end. What I truly enjoy about this author duo is the ease and skill in which write their characters. Heavily character driven, these fully developed and delightfully engaging players will capture your attention from first meeting and wiggle their way into your heart. It’s almost impossible to not become vested in their lives. The smooth pacing and engaging storyline makes for a fast read that came to an end far too soon for my liking.
Lorilei and Colin are both fantastic complicated protagonists. Intelligent, clever, and loyal, the dance these two engage in is both seductive and edgy as Colin finds himself drawn to Lorilei and what she represents. I adore the reluctant hero trope and in here we got a twofer. These two weary protagonists are reluctant to allow themselves the chance to be happy even though they will give their lives for the happiness of others. The drama of their relationship and the situations they find themselves in balances well with the continuous world building.
The romance is very slow to develop as Lorilei and Colin attempt to learn to trust one another. Both have been forced into situations that required them to do things that destroyed a little of their soul each time. Neither wanted the responsibility that has been forced on them and both have issues with their past that they fear with send the other one running. Lorilei feels a lot of shame for what she had to do to protect the other members of her pack. Colin also feels shame for his past. Both need to learn to forgive themselves. Their chemistry is off the charts and the sexual tension is palpable force that coats your skin as you read.
All our old friends are back and some new ones I look forward to interacting with more in the future. I enjoy how Rogers is able to pick up their lives right from where Haunted Sanctuary left off, leaving no feelings of missed behind the scenes action. This world continues to expand and elevate both character and arc wise. The journey towards safety is fraught with tension and suspense as we learn of a secret coven whose members want something Green Pines Sanctuary has…something they will kill to protect. Our villains are ugly, nasty, evil, individuals that you will love to hate. Beware though – as with most of Moira Roger’s stories, this writing pair does not shy away from violence or making hard decisions that can and will break your heart. Strong emotions will make and break you as you race to the climatic finale. The ending resolves just enough to have you looking forward to book three-Haunted Magic-release date TBA.
Though each story has a resolvable main conflict, the arc is ongoing and those who start here at book two may not fully understand or enjoy the ongoing storyline.

I’d love to read these. I’ve enjoyed some (only because I don’t have them all) of Moira Rogers other works, so I’m sure these are great too.

Sounds interesting. The fact that they’re both tortured – as opposed to only the hero – makes me think that they would each get the other better than someone without that kind of history.

Great review Tori, thank you. I am on the fence about this series, because I really want to read it because of the story itself, but think it is just a bit too hot for my likes.
