Smexy’s Top Ten–July 12

July 12, 2013 by Mandi 15 Comments

sharknado10. I don’t know about you guys, but I have a Sharknado hangover. One of the cheesiest movies I’ve ever seen, also one of the most epic. I’m not sure I’ve heard my kids laugh quite so hard as they did last night. The best part? (well besides Ian Ziering cutting his way out of a shark with a chainsaw) was watching the movie while watching Twitter. It was an epic Twitter event. I love you Twitter.

9. When I saw She’s Got Dibs by AJ Nuest rec’d over at Fiction Vixen and then saw a rec from Katiebabs, I knew I had to try this one. I was not disappointed. This is a delightful, really sexy, fun romance about a humble millionaire hero and an uptight (admittedly sometimes very frustrating) heroine who fall in love. Smart dialogue made me smile my way through this book. Dibs (the hero) is adorable, maybe teetering on the beta side and so damn sexy. Like I said, heroine annoyed me at times but overall I had a ton of fun reading this book. Goodreads l Kindle (If anyone wants me to loan them this on kindle, holler in the comments)

HML-200x200-non-animated8. Fiction Vixen and Smexy Books are teaming up to bring you a Newsletter every month. Called, How Many Licks? (does it take to get to the center of a naughty romance novel) – you could use How Many Licks to apply to so many things in a romance book *wink* – we will bring exclusive author interviews, prizes, and FUNNESS (yes…funness) each month. Our first month’s (August) theme is……western. We have a great author lined up too. If you want to sign up to have this Newsletter delivered to your inbox, go HERE.

control7. Free on Kindle right now – Control by Charlotte Stein. I wrote a short review of it on Goodreads.  It has a heroine who works with a VERY beta her and a VERY alpha hero. In my recollection, it’s more of a M/F rom – not a menage. There is one scene that made me laugh so hard I had tears. It’s free and y’all should check it out. It’s DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY.

reaperslegacy6. OH. Come to Smexy you sexy motorcycle club man. I LOVE this cover. Has everyone read Reaper’s Property by Joanna Wylde (bk 1)? Review l Kindle. It’s a Motorcycle Club book with a hero named Horse. HELLO Horse! Book two, Reaper’s Legacy due out this February has been picked up by Penguin. I’m excited. I think this author does a really good job with the MC culture.  Read the blurb at Goodreads.

5. We all know the epic scene in Pride and Predjudice where Colin Firth aka Mr. Darcy, comes out of the water at Pemberly and Lizzie sees him *swoon*. Well now, there is a 12-foot statue of Mr. Darcy in Serpentine Lake in Hyde Park.

colinfirth

WELL HELLO SCHMEXY!!! I can’t decide if I’m horrified by this or if I want to swim out to him and spider monkey up his body and rub his nipples.

5. I don’t understand why we can’t have commercials like this in the US. It’s a delightful little commerical for some kind of frozen treat.  It involves nakey men picking strawberries, showering at a dairy farm and diving into strawberry syrup. I’d buy cases of these things! (thx KB!)

winesippy3. Those that know me well know two things about me – one: I love wine. Two: I’m VERY clumsy. So now I have discovered the greatest invention ever. The Wine Sippy Cup!! You are still classy because you are drinking wine out of a stemmed glass, but it is enclosed in a spill-proof, break-proof sippy cup! *flails* You can purchase a set of 4 for $29. Zomg.

selfie12. This has been all over the internet and I’ve already put it on facebook and stuff. But it’s just too adorable to not post again. Bradley Cooper and Gerard Butler in their handsome power-blue suits taking a selfie at Wimbledon. *I DIE OF CUTENESS*

wine111. Tonight is one of my girlfriend’s birthday, so we are getting together to have fondue, drink wine and watch GI Joe 2. I do love me a girl’s night *grins* Hope everyone has a fab weekend. Read something smexy!

Don’t know if you can loan it twice, but I’d love to read it after Madeline if you’re able to to!

I completely forgot that I have Control already languishing on my Kindle. I know what I’ll be reading this weekend…

Also, that wine sippy cup is ingenious

As a mystery science theater fan I feel I really missed out on the Sharknado event.

I am all for adoration of Colin Firth’s Mr. Darcy but am not sure what to think about that statue.

Ok, while I love the tribute to Colin Firth…that statue is creepy. But I would pay to watch you climb up it. Lol! Have a great weekend!

Thank you, Mandi, for the awesome review of She’s Got Dibs! You made my day. Heck, you made my week!! XO

Oh, and I’m off to purchase the wine sippy cups. Whoever invented those is a damn genius, IMO.
