Ariel is a half demon, half human bounty hunter. She takes on assignments to kill or bring in demons who fill the city. One night while trying to take in a sucker alive, her plan gets thwarted by a man named Jax. Jax is a Blade, and Blades police the city keeping the demons in check. There are so many demons that the Blades only go after those that are dangerous or causing trouble. Jax sees Ariel going outside alone with a sucker, and intervenes to save her, not realizing she is more than capable of saving herself.

Ariel wants nothing to do with Jax, no matter how sexy he is. But Jax wants everything to do with her. Ariel is desperate for some money, so agrees to team up with Jax to bring in some bounties. But they soon realize there is a new breed of suckers that are going to be super tough to bring down.

Overall this book is pretty good. I’ll get my complaints out right away – first, I wanted a little more on the world building. It almost felt we entered this story after it already started and I needed more backstory on Ariel and Jax. I wanted to get to know them better.

I also thought for these two being on opposite sides, they come together too easily. Their scenes are hot (there is one really long smex scene and oh baby), but I wanted a little more build up between them then what we get. This book has an urban fantasy feel but with super hot sex scenes.

But otherwise, I liked this book. Ariel is pretty kick-ass – she can take care of herself and I liked her attitude. Jax comes onto the scene thinking he has to save this woman, only to find out that she can take care of herself. They have nice chemistry together and the mystery of the super breed of vampires is played out well. The end wraps up the action but also leaves room for another adventure.

Sounds good. Boy, is it me or is that cover getting a lot of play time?
