I Interrupt Your Monday…

September 2, 2013 by Mandi 44 Comments

…for a very important announcement.

Charlie Hunnam has been cast as Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

This fine, fine specimen of a male will be nakey (omg he better be full frontal naked) on the big screen…

charlie

Did I care about the Fifty Shades of Grey movie five minutes ago? No. Do I care now – hell yes.

charlie1

Can he pull off Christian Grey? I don’t really care. Just do dirty things naked and I’ll eat my popcorn with my girlfriends and it will be an epic night. *wink*

Oh – And Dakota Johnson is set to play Ana.

dakota

What are your thoughts? Does this totally ruin Jax from Sons of Anarchy?

Yeah, I agree. With Pacific Rim, not doing so good in the states, he shoulda been more picky about his next movie. This movie, will either make him or break him.

Never read the books, and don’t plan to. I’m just tired of hearing about who was going to be cast in this movie. I feel like we have been hearing about this forever now! Oh, and Dakota is kinda, meh, to me.

I’ve only read the first half of book one so I’m not too familiar with the books either. What will we do now without hearing casting rumors constantly? ;)

I have to say am disappointed. Charlie is too fine of an actor to play Christian Grey. I remember when they asked Stephen Amell would he like to be CG and guy said: “No. I just don’t think he’s that interesting.”
Considering I only read and didn’t like first book in series and couldn’t care less about the movie,I can’t say if Charlie is fit to play CG. I am more upset because I think that this role doesn’t fit Charlie and his talent at all.

Someone just pointed out to me that Charlie looks like Spencer Pratt, and my lady-boner died. It’s the flesh-colored beard, I think.

I always that Matt Bomer would be the perfect person to play CG. I will say that the one good thing about Charlie playing CG is now I will finally cave and watch SOA. Never did before, but that link you sent me convinced me to watch. Especially that booty shot.

Having read all three books and an avid fan of SOA, I think it could go either way for Charlie Hunnam.

Either he can bring an emotional maturity to Grey’s character that was NOT apparent in the books or the character will absorb him and we’ll all be screaming, “WHAT DID YOU DO TO OUR JAX, BISHES???”

*huffs and shakes a fist at Brie* Damnit.. that side by side picture just killed Hunnam for me.

I actually think CH is a very good actor. IMO, he plays a selfish asshole on SOA (not a jax fan canyatell?).. so Christian Grey seemingly wouldn’t be too much of a stretch. But just the 50SOG platform? Blech.

I’ll take the nakey stills and any and all youtube videos. Don’t any actors read the books before signing onto the movie/tv shows? (Lost my faith when I read about Game of Thrones)

I have seen a few Sons of Anarchy episodes – my husband likes this show – but it is too dark for me. I have seen the nakey butt & it is fine. I think he will be good in the movie & hopefully will shave the crappy beard. However, that being said, I haven’t read the books & probably won’t see the movie.

This post and comments made me giggle. I think it’s a TERRIBLE career choice for him, I’m disappointed FOR him which is dumb bc hello don’t know him LOL But anyway the fact that this movie is actually being nade at all is so dumb. The director is the woman who directed Kick-Ass… Aaaaaaand ended up having kids with the kid who played kick-ass. So much drama!

Actually, the director is the woman who directed Nowhere Boy and ended up having babies with the boy who played Nowhere Boy. Kick-Ass was directed by Mathew Vaunghn who is married to Claudia Schiffer and is presumed to be January Jones’ (secret) baby daddy. Don’t even ask how I know all this.

Yowza! I didn’t care for the book and really wasn’t paying attention to the movie either…until now! I love Charlie, and there is nothing better than naked Charlie! I will now gladly see the movie for him alone. I will always love Jax and SOA. This doesn’t change that fact, and if I get to see more of him in a movie all the better. I’m hoping the get a decent screenwriter to fix everything I hated about the book…wishful Hollywood miracle.

I still remember him as a gay teenager in Queer as Folk! He did’t do it for me then and I’m sorry to say he doesn’t do it for me in SOA either. Although I’ve only seen Series 1 – and I know he’s supposed to be a biker – but he could at least have a shower and wash his hair once in a while, stand up straight and find some Jeans that fit him!! Oh and I cant bear the way he goes in for a kiss either. Eeew. Just can’t see him as the impossibly gorgeous, sophisticated-but sadistic CG. And honestly – how are they going to make a mainstream movie out of these books???!!

    Opinionated much?! :)

Well I REALLY enjoyed FSOG but I was not really looking forward to the movie just because I am never happy with any movie adaptation from a book. I do not really care who is casted. I think they can make him look polished so that should not be a big deal. The books were and weren’t porn. He really loved her and it took a long a## time for him to figure it out and get there. I do not think it will be possible to portray all that in a movie. It will be just like the Twilights that if you had not read the books I have no idea how you knew what the heck was going on just by those depressing looks.
