Obsession by Jennifer Lyon (The Plus One Chronicles #3)

In the explosive conclusion to The Plus One Chronicles Trilogy, obscenely rich, jaggedly handsome and still obsessed with love and vengeance, Sloane Michaels must face an impossible choice: lose the woman he loves or betray his twin sister’s memory.
Watching the man she adores destroy himself for revenge, Kat Thayne knows she should run and never look back. But running isn’t her way anymore. Kat has grown into a fierce fighter, and the man who helped her get there is the very man who needs her strength now. But as the sizzling passion and hard-won love bind Kat and Sloane even tighter together, old secrets and lies explode around them. Danger threatens. And Kat soon realizes that she’s risking more than her heart to be with Sloane…she’s risking her very life.

And so the trilogy ends. You can read my reviews for the first two books here and here. A few things to note about this trilogy. First, I think the romance between Sloane and Kat is well done. Sloane is a billionaire and he didn’t make me squirm or roll my eyes. He is a little cold and definitely alpha, but he is respectful of the heroine (shocking, I know!).

The first book sets up the drama where the man who killed Sloane’s sister is getting out of prison and Sloane wants revenge. There is also the mystery of who assaulted Kat all those years ago leaving her with a permanent leg injury. I feel that book two and book three could have been combined into one book as they dragged a bit. I was also disappointed with the outcome of the murderer and the person who hurt Kat. It just kind of fell apart for me. After three books of build-up I wanted more emphasis put on it. So the romance through the three books worked but the other conflict ended up weak.

I hope Jennifer Lyons writes more contemporaries like this. I like her voice even though the end was a bit unsettling for me.

Rating: C

I liked it but agree with you. It could have been wrapped into one book and I had some questions towards the end.

I ADORED the whole series but then I’m just a reader and not a reviewer. I thought it worked well and was very believable. I kept slipping into the world and seeing things through Kat. I identified with Kat. Who wouldn’t want a rich “knight in shining armor” coming to our rescue and help us find our own strength. To be able in the end to be the “strength” for our “knight” when he needs it ’cause he’s damaged too. I thought it was FABULOUS and I gave it 5 stars.

Well I’m a reader first and foremost. I enjoyed the romance. It’s hard for me to find billionaire heroes I like and I really liked him

Yup, I totally agree with you Mandi. Book 3 was a letdown in terms of the main conflict. But, Jennifer Lyon is someone whose books I’ll look for in the future.
