Last year I read Down for the Count by Christine Bell and it was really fun and sexy. Galen (the heroine’s BFF’s brother) is a famous boxer who goes off on a honeymoon with Lacey – when she discovers her fiancé cheating on her at her wedding. Galen comes to the rescue and then that leads to kissy time and sexy time and eventually HEA time. As I said, it’s a cute romance you should check out.

Anyway, this leads us to Down the Aisle, a short novella featuring these two who are just about to get married. But there is some stress in their lives. Lacey has had a lot of difficulty getting pregnant, and after trying fertility treatments, they have turned to adoption, which is a very difficult process. This dumps a lot of stress into their relationship, and while they are excited to get married, there is also a lot of stuff that is bringing the excitement down.

I think infertility and adoption and everything related to it is a heavy topic and one that I wish we had been told more about. This is a short story, and a good part of the beginning Lacey is whisked away to a strip club for her bachelorette party and then we have sexy times with Galen (I’m not complaining). I feel that the adoption issues are not explained enough. I didn’t have enough time to become invested in that part of their lives. I would have rather just had this a brief look into their wedding plans and so forth.

So, I say definitely read Down for the Count and if you want a glimpse into their future, check this one out, but it didn’t leave an impact.
