Don’t worry – Smex Scene Sunday isn’t going away. I just don’t have a good scene to post today – I blame the holidays for screwing up my reading schedule! But as I was glancing through my schedule to see what review books I have coming up, I realized January is shaping up to be a damn good month, or at least one can hope.
I did get a head-start. I’ve read the crackalicious The Destiny of Violet & Luke by Jessica Sorensen, which has characters even more screwed up than Callie & Kayden. It’s angst overload and I’m addicted to it. I definitely recommend reading Callie & Kayden first, as Luke has a lot of page time in their two books.
I also just read Before Jamaica Lane by Samantha Young and I was highly entertained. Nate is a much lighter and playful hero than her past male leads, and Olivia is quite adorable. Even the trope of – hero who is best friend of heroine, schools her in how to flirt, kiss and have sex – just as friends – worked for me. I found this book to be so, so sexy. If you have yet to read On Dublin Street or Down London Road, give them a try! The characters are all best friends with each other so it makes the books more fun if you are familiar with their back stories.
I’ve just started a book by debut author Alyssa Alexander called, The Smuggler Wore Silk. I’ve only read the first chapter but the hero is a spy and the first chapter gets a thumbs up. We’ll see how it goes.
Mary Ann Rivers is starting a new series, so we finally get to read a full length from her. Live comes out January 21, and I’m damn excited. If you haven’t tried this author yet, read my ‘Best of’ post tomorrow. She is on there twice.
Tracy Warren is coming out with her debut contemporary book, The Last Man Standing. I believe in the past she has only written historicals. The hero on the cover looks a wee bit cocky and the blurb says he is a bad boy, so we shall see if we like him *wink*

I have a copy of Up From The Grave in my hands for review. I’m scared to read it. I don’t want Bones and Cat to be done. I keep picking it up and setting it back down. *sobs* I will read it this week though.

Did you see Boots Under Her Bed? It’s a western anthology with Jo Goodman and Kaki Warner. I’m looking forward to that one in January.

I hadn’t heard about that one, and it’s definitely going on my to-buy list. Thanks for the alert!

It’s hard to wrap my brain around the idea of the last Cat & Bones book. I want to read it but like Amy J I don’t want it to end. I have also got to read the second Callie & Kayden book so I can read Luke’s book.
Most of all I am all about JC Daniel’s Broken Blade release in January. I just can’t wait for that one.
