Top Ten Reasons to read Staking His Claim by Tessa Bailey

staking his claim

Blurb: NYPD sniper Matt Donovan is in Hell. Instead of driving his best friend’s little sister home from college, he’s stuck with her roommate—a fresh-faced ray-of-sunshine with a body that makes grown men weep. There’s no way he’ll allow himself to taint the little vixen, no matter how hard she tries to tempt him, so he resigns himself to the longest—and hardest—drive of his life.

Matt’s obvious attraction suits grad student Lucy Mason just fine. She had no idea her brother’s best friend was so deliciously hot. Knowing he’d never have his wicked way with his buddy’s sister, she lies about her identity and seduces him. But Matt’s no fumbling college boy. His desires run deep—and dark—and he wants to teach Lucy what wicked really means.

Matt’s demanding appetites only make Lucy want more. But when her cover’s blown, he’s furious—even as his hunger for her becomes insatiable. Matt can’t trust anyone, least of all himself. And he knows all too well that darkness always destroys the light…

The Line of Duty series has been so much fun to read. I labeled Tessa Bailey the queen of the dirty talking hero, and she doesn’t let us down with Matt in Staking his Claim, the final book in this series. We’ve seen glimpses of Matt in previous books, always quiet, broody and mysterious. When we finally meet Matt in this book, he lives up to his intense persona. He is one of Bailey’s more dominant heroes and the heroine couldn’t get enough of him. Lucy loves his dominant nature.

As always with my Top Ten Reasons posts, the quotes below are explicit.

The Top Ten reasons to read Staking His Claim:

10. The first time Lucy sees Matt.

She couldn’t stop her gaze from tracking downward, over broad shoulders, a wide chest, and a heavy leather belt that rode low on his waist. As if a good stretch would reveal his happy trail and that cut vee leading into his jeans. Speaking of jeans, good Lord, the man’s ass was a bona fide work of art.As he strode toward the nearby counter to place his order, his work boots not making a single sound, those tight buns set off a choir of rejoicing angels in her head.

9. If you are worried about how well-endowed Matt is, put your fears to rest.

Without hesitation, he dropped his hand to the front of his jeans to massage his weighty erection. He had to bite his lip to keep from moaning.

Hashtag – #WeightyErection.

8. Matt thinks he is a big scary beast, but Lucy likes every minute of it.

“I want to pleasure your sick little body. I want to make you scream and shake and lose your fucking mind.” He surged up between her legs. “But before that, I want to erase any doubt as to who is about to take ownership of you, good girl. Have I scared the hell out of you yet?”

Oh, God. A little. Not enough to stop, though. “No.”

“Liar. You know what I do to liars?”

“Kiss them?”

Oh Lucy. I hope you are prepared for more than just a kiss!

7. Matt likes to spank. And to his surprise, Lucy likes to be on the receiving end…

“Jesus. You’re begging me for it, aren’t you?” he rasped at her ear, wrapping her hair around his fist and tugging her head back. “Beg harder.”

6. *ding dong* Pizza delivery man is right outside their door with dinner during their spanking session. Whatever will they do??

Her lips were damp and parted, eyes smoky. Magnificent. His cock swelled so huge against his belly he had to support himself with a hand on the table. “Again, Matt.”

His forehead dropped down onto her back with a groan. She can’t be real.

Oh, she’s real Matt. What I’m more concerned with is Matt’s gigantic boner that puts him off balance – he gets top heavy and falls over. Be careful Matt!

 5. Classic Tessa Bailey line:

“These thighs were made to be spread for a man. This man. Open them wider. Now.”

4. Classic Tessa Bailey line #2!:

“You want me to finish in your disrespectful little mouth? You want to make my fucking life?”

(seriously, I love this author. LOL)

3. Matt is just a little particular about when they will have sex.

“When I walk in the front door after a shift, Lucy, I want your mouth on mine before I even get my jacket off.”

2. Dirty bathroom sex for the win!

“Brace your hands on the sink.’

Reflected in the mirror, her breasts rose and fell temptingly. He reached around her with a rough hand and pulled down her neckline so he could watch them jiggle each time he slapped her. He found her nipples and pinched them roughly, her need whimper making his vision blur.

1. Should we end on a romantic note?

“I want to fall asleep with your gorgeous ass cradling my satisfied dick. Your breasts in my hands. I need it, baby.”

If that doesn’t say I love you…
