Smexy’s Top Ten – May 9th

May 9, 2014 by Mandi 18 Comments

someecard10. Awww, it’s Mother’s Day this weekend. We usually don’t do anything big for Mother’s Day – but it was cute last night when my husband realized Mother’s Day is this Sunday – he got that panicked look in his eyes until I was like – a bottle of wine and grill something and I’m so good to go. Maybe I should have made him panic a little longer. ;) – of course his next sentence was – “What should I get my mom?” *bangs head on table*

9. Lisa Kleypas has announced she is going to write a new historical romance series for Avon – then followed by some contemporaries. Happiness! I love this author’s voice. And we all have Joe’s book to look forward to this fall. If you have never read her – you must! The Travis’s, The Wallflowers, The Hathaways – Dreaming of you!! Pick one! :)

8. The Smexy Books family has a new member. Hooray! Sheena will now be writing reviews for us. She has guest posted a bit in the past and we tweet together a lot. We were writing a rough draft joint review of the upcoming Nalini Singh book and I had so much fun I asked her to join Smexy. She loves alpha heroes among other things. Looking forward to everyone getting to know her. Her first official review will post next week.

divergent7. Earlier this week, on a rec from Sophia (who gives me tons of great audio recs) I started listening to Divergent. I love to listen to audio books when I do housework or run errands, but I found myself constantly listening to this book. I finally got to the point last night where I stole my son’s copy of it and furiously read the last 1/4 of the book because I just had to know where it was all going. So yes – I really enjoyed this one and this morning I already downloaded book two to my iphone. I really love the narrator also. Anyway – my question is – do I watch the movie? *Bites nails* I did a quick google search and some loved and others thought too much changed. What to do, what to do? Tell me people!

hubs-wine6. This website has collected twitter data and have come up with some cute comparisons about what we tweet more of state to state. I particularly like the Husband Vs. Wine map – Sorry husbands but you pretty much lose on this one. (I also need to go drink with some girls in Idaho, stat!)

sex

So beer > sex? Interesting….. :)
(thanks Laura for the tweet!)

5. Can we take a moment to appreciate the muscle gain of Mr. Bradley Cooper? No really – take a loooooong moment. Because damn.  Go HERE and HERE. Als the beard. BCoop – We approve of this!!!

jaffle4.You guys – I’m moving to Australia. Not because it’s amazing and everyone loves it – but because there is a restaurant there that will parachute you a sandwich. A nice, toasty sandwich!

Come on United States! I need this.

carrot3. Those are some damn fine sexy carrot legs. (please tell me I’m not the only one who giggle-snorted at this). I love you twitter.

mindy2.Was The Mindy Project season finale the best ever or what??? I think I’ve seen You’ve Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle at least a thousand times, so when this episode paid homage to those two movies, I may have bounced myself out of bed. And then happy weeped. Good thing my husband wasn’t home to witness this. Between this show and catching up with Parks and Rec (I’m on last season where Ben just proposed to Leslie *weeps some more*) I can’t handle the adorableness. It’s too much for me to take! What will I do this summer when I’m all caught up?? Help me.

1. I have a good reading weekend planned. Starting with Bet On Me by Alisha Rai (this is the third book of the series – I def rec books one and two) and then Tanya by Rebecca Rogers Maher (y’all need to read The Bridge – which has nothing to do with Tanya but it’s realllly good)

I also have new deck furniture so I’ll have to try out drinking a glass of wine on it to make sure it gets my stamp of approval :) Happy Friday and have a great weekend!!

I haven’t seen the movie version of Divergent but a friend of mine that also read the book enjoyed it. I lost all interest in seeing the movie after the third book basically ruined the series for me.

I’m not a crier at all all, but I cried big time when Ben proposed. And the wedding episode? Puhhlease – lots of kleenex needed.

I’m still on season 4 of Castle, so don’t even try to get me started on Mindy Project! (yet).

I was a little afraid to watch Divergent but it actually turned out pretty darn good. Plus, two hours of Theo James can never be a bad thing ;-)

I am super excited to hear that Lisa Kleypas is writing some new historical romances. It has been way too long!

I assume Theo James is Four? Because I’m kind of in love with him in the book. I need him to be hot in the movie.

Looking forward to Sheena’s reviews! Another lady to stalk for good reads. ;-P
I’m very happy about Kleypas news! And we get Joe’s book as well. It can’t get any better. :)
Bradley Cooper’s hotness level is growing exponentially with his facial hair an muscle gain.
    Great Top Ten!

My problem with the last Divergent book wasn’t completely the big spoiler. I had problems with the turn the story took and how it fit in with the first two books plus the lack of character evolution on Tris’s part bothered me.

Yay, more LK historicals!!! She is my all time favorite in that genre!

I LOVED the Mindy Project finale! That show is so amazing. Although I was a little disappointed that Danny didn’t bring Mindy daisies when she was sick in bed with a cold.

    Excellllent!

Oh and I love Divergent’s adaptation to the big screen. Theo was the purrrrrrfect Four and they stayed true to the book which I loved.

I predict Mandi, you will love Insurgent, but want to hurl Alligent at the nearest window *I did*
