Smex Scene Sunday

July 27, 2014 by Tori 8 Comments

11277601I’m a fan of M/M suspense romances involving an in the closet male (usually a cop or detective) and the one man he can’t seem to stay away from. Usually angst filled dramas with some heartbreak, some laughter, and lots of smexy times.  I just recently discovered Kaje Harper’s Life Lessons series and devoured the first book in the series-Life Lessons- in about 2 hours.  A great story that deals with the ramifications of being forced to stay in the closet due to job and/or family. The romance blends well with the suspenseful mystery and I really enjoyed that Harper doesn’t try to wrrap everything up in a pretty sparkly bow in an effort to give readers an HEA. This relationship is a work in progress for many reasons and Harper stays true to that.

HERO: Detective Jared (Mac) McLean. Widow with a small child. Gay but way deep in the closet. An attraction to a murder witness has him reeling.

HERO: Tony. Teacher. Out of the closet. Witnesses a fellow teacher being killed. Attracted to Mac but doesn’t do secret relationships.

In this scene, Mac realizes how close to came to losing Tony and feels the need to connect with him. I’ve hidden in a spoiler tag because it is a wee bit graphic.
Mac crawled into the bed, warmed his cold hands for a moment against his own thighs, and gently, slowly, moved Tony’s upper leg back. The dark curls thickened down Tony’s stomach, unshaven, to a dense patch at his groin. Oh, yes. Mac bent his head to trail lips down that path. Tony was soft, unready for him. Mac licked gently, the slightest damp touch on silky skin. Under his mouth, Tony’s cock stirred, lengthening. Mac let his tongue trace that length, teasing at the sensitive cord under the cut head. Tony was built like the rest of his body, slender but long and fine. Mac cupped the tight ass with one hand, so Tony wouldn’t roll onto his sore back, and laid his head on a furry thigh as he took the slick rounded tip into his mouth.Above him, Tony made an incoherent murmur. A hand tangled in Mac’s hair and Tony’s hips moved involuntarily. Mac took him deep.

“Jesus, Mac?” Tony said, sounding startled.

Mac backed off for a moment to free his mouth. “Awake yet?” he murmured, taking the opportunity to nuzzle soft balls. He sucked one in, mouthing it, then pulled back.

“I…yeah, definitely.”

Mac licked again, root to tip. “You remember who I am?”

“It’s coming back to me. Police protection.”

Mac trailed upwards over firm stomach to a dark nipple and rolled it in his mouth, sucking the tightening nub, nipping softly. “Remember who you are?”

“That’s getting a little fuzzy,” Tony claimed, pressing Mac’s head forward. Then he eased off. “You don’t have to…”

Mac laughed against his skin. “I’m supposed to wake you. I figured this would work.” He eased his way lower again.

“Oh, yeah. Everything’s working.”
You are so right Tori, M/M romance is always heavy on the angst. I read one last year and it was so angsty that when it was over I felt traumatized! haha

Well Tori, I’m hearing a big “cha-ching” as I head over to Amazon. I am so weak for m/m with angst and lots of smexy times! I like the quote you chose. Can’t wait to give this series a try!
