News from Mandi: I really liked The Lucky Charm by Beth Bolden last year, so I was looking forward to reading her current release, Getting Lucky. This one didn’t quite grab me as much as her first book. Getting Lucky is a small town romance with a retiring baseball player, where in The Lucky Charm, it was very baseball focused. In this book we just didn’t have a lot going on. Everyone was too nice. (am I too jaded?). Review coming.

I adored Shadowed Heart by Laura Florand. This revisits Luc and Summer from The Chocolate Heart. It’s funny because while I absolutely love this series, Chocolate Heart isn’t my favorite – but I loved this follow-up story. Summer finds out she is pregnant, and Luc must deal with the memories of his parents abandoning him and trying to feel worthy of Summer’s love. Past characters play a part too. Review coming

Making her Melt by Amber Lin is a dirty little novella. The hero is in love with his best friend’s girlfriend. Naughty! (no cheating). It’s good and steamy. The hero is quite intense. I like Lin’s voice.

I’m almost done the Comfort and Joy Anthology – LOVED Joanna Chambers story, DNF’d the Harper Fox (it felt jarring for some reason) and enjoyed LB Gregg. Have the Josh Lanyon left. Will be reviewing soon.

Up next – The Lover’s Knot by Erin Satie.

News from Tori: I’m so COLD! It’s in the 30s here and I just can’t deal. I haven’t gotten a lot of reading done this week with the holidays just around the corner and me just not ready for it. :(

White Knight by Kelly Meade. The final installment to a dark and richly detailed trilogy that put a new spin on the shape shifting legends. Dark and violent, Meade does well balancing those aspects with humor and love. Overall enjoyed though I felt the ending was rushed and certain aspects weren’t fully explained. Review to come.

I Do! by Rachel Gibson. A disappointment across the board. Though I enjoyed seeing Sadie, Vince and various other characters from the series, the NA romance was bland, awkward, and seemed to be more of one long sexual interlude then an actual romance.

Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven. A bittersweet and funny NA that addresses first love, first heartbreak, and second chances. Fast pacing and hilarious dialogue made for a quick read though some may be put off by the narrative that alternates between the past and present. The heroine is a treat with her quick wit, refreshingly normal childhood, and lack of sexual hang ups. Review to come.

This weekend I’m reading Secret To Die For by Sierra Dean
