I’m enjoying this series by Victoria Dahl, and you can’t go wrong with a sexy, over-worked, 42 year old hero who is a US marshal. Tom has been assigned to the mountains near Jackson Hole Wyoming, as guard detail for a local judge. This judge has been sent death threats by a rogue survivalist. The judge lives in a secluded part of the woods, and Tom and his crew have moved in, to not only keep the judge safe, but to try to capture the bad guy as well. This is a lot of late night and sleeping on a cot in the judge’s basement. Tom decides to knock on all the local cabins to alert them to be extra vigilant  until this drama is over, and this is how he meets the artist Isabelle.

Isabelle is perfectly happy being a recluse. She is a medical artist  and makes a nice living. She has a few good girlfriends that live local who she meets for drinks and dinner once in a while, otherwise she craves her alone time. So when Tom knocks on her door, Isabelle isn’t thrilled to see him on her door step – but wanting to be left alone isn’t the only reason. Isabelle has a secret – years ago, her father was discovered as a corrupt cop in Chicago, and he murdered another cop as his career was unraveling. Her father went on the run, leaving Isabelle by herself to deal with suspicious cops, and all the corrupt guys that were in league with her father. Vague threats and letters from her father asking for money terrified Isabelle, forcing her to go on the run, fake her identity, and finally settling into the hills of Wyoming. Never telling anyone her past, she becomes very afraid of Tom at first, thinking he is really knocking on her door because he knows something about her. When she realizes he is truly in town to catch this bad guy related to the judge, she relaxes, and realizes how sexy he is. Of course, Tom with all of his marshal skills, realizes Isabelle is hiding something and starts searching in her past. Naughty man! Secrets come out, hot sex is had and girlfriend night out happens (not in that order)

This is a fun, easy read. Not quite as dirty as some of her other books, but full of good chemistry and romance, Isabelle and Tom have quite a bumpy start. At first I was concerned that there would be too much forced drama in this book due to the fact we have a little suspense with the survivalist running around town, the entire reason Tom is in Jackson Hole. Then we have Isabelle’s dark past, which is bound to rear its ugly head. But Dahl does a nice job balancing the suspense and the secrets with the romance. It doesn’t overshadow their relationship but still plays  big part. Tom is such a good, upstanding guy. Dedicated to his job, he travels a lot and has never had time for a serious relationship. He is a hard worker, blushes when women tease him, and falls for Isabelle, hard. He is so respectful and a gentleman, I enjoyed that.

Isabelle has good girlfriend time in this book. They meet for dinner, meet for drinks and have lots of laughs. She also teases Tom a lot and is forward and open with her attraction to him. They are cute together.

I’ve enjoyed the previous two books in this series as well. Fun reads.

Glad you enjoyed this one, Mandi. I’ve been looking forward to it.
I have to play catch up on lots of new reads as I’ve been re-reading 50 Shades to prepare for the movie. Lol. The hubs and I have date night planned for it and I hope I’m not disappointed. In the movie, that is. Date night is always fun. :-)
