News from Mandi: Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs is fantastic! A great addition to her Alpha & Omega series. I like this series better than her Mercy Thompson series at this point. Review coming.
I had some trouble with First Time in Forever by Sarah Morgan. The start of her new Puffin Island series, I didn’t love the hero and heroine together. I felt there was too much set-up in the story for it to feel organic. The sparkle of her previous series wasn’t there. But I’ll try book two for sure.
The List by Anne Calhoun is an erotic story more on the somber side. Serious yet engaging, it follows a couple through the first day they meet to exactly one year later when the heroine asks for a divorce. The heroine is very rigid and intense and cold – but she intrigued me the entire time. Review to come.
I’m currently reading Recipe for Reunion by Vicki Essex. So far so good!
P.S. I finished the audio book of The Martian by Andy Weir. Two thumbs up! Dear Hollywood, please don’t ruin this movie. Please!

@ Mandi — I am so so excited to read Dead Heat. Like you I really like this series better than the Mercy books. Love Charles and Anna plus a big dose of Bran does NOT hurt!
Mandi says
Bran is only in this one a tiny bit. Still one of my favorite characters.

I loved The Martian! I did a combination of reading and listening to it. I’m excited about the movie based on the cast but with Ridley Scott directing I think it could go either way.
It’s interesting that you prefer the Alpha & Omega series more than the Mercy Thompson. I’ve only read the first book in each series and I enjoyed Mercy Thompson much more. Now I’m more excited about checking out more of the Alpha & Omega series than I was.
Mandi says
The first couple Mercy are outstanding. The past few have just been okay for me. I LOVE the world in general (same world as A&O) – but I find A&O more consistent.
Tori says
I love both series by Briggs but I think I prefer the relationship aspects in A&O. Charles and Anna seem to blend better together and there is more respect shown and given.
Mandi says
Yes. I agree.

I too far prefer the Alpha and Omega stories to Briggs’ Mercy Thompson series though I do read both. I own the A&O series though!
