Off the top of my head, I think this is the first “Stepbrother” romance I have read. I honestly thought it would be more taboo-feeling than it turned out to be. Emma’s mom is on marriage four and has found the new love of her life on a Montana Ranch. Emma flies out for the wedding, to meet her new stepfather and stepbrother for the first time. Ford works on the ranch for his father and they’ve done very well for themselves. He isn’t too happy about his dad marrying again and when he sees Emma for the first time, he isn’t too happy that his new stepsister is gorgeous.
I guess it didn’t feel naughty to me because it’s not like Emma and Ford grew up together and considers themselves as siblings. They meet for the very first time a day or two before the wedding and fall in love the following week. Yes they are step-siblings but they are strangers really. I was kind of disappointed with that set-up. I wanted something more scandalous!
Emma comes to learn that Ford is a dominant, at first freaking her out and then when he starts to introduce her to the world of BDSM, she gets into it. I didn’t love the BDSM portion of this book. I’m not sure it felt organic in their relationship. It felt forced and a little – general. The spanking. The anal play. The ropes. There were no surprises. He immediately calls her pet and she likes it after just admitting that she thought people didn’t do BDSM things in real life.
While there are hot sex scenes, I didn’t feel like these two fell in love. It wasn’t a romantic book really – it was more just sex. Also, I thought there would be big drama when the parents found out about the relationship but that is skimmed over.
This stepbrother romance is a miss for me.

Hey Mandi:)
I hate that the relationship between the characters seemed fake and organic. To me, I prefer if the two lovers spend time getting to know each other, develop a real relationship and THEN delve into a heart pounding relationship. Anything less makes me feel cheated.
