Hunter is about four years out of college and a star baseball player for the Houston Astros. His father is a senator, and Hunter has always had to work on being the perfect son to impress him. Growing up, he was always on his best behavior, but in college, he let his true personality shine. He lived in the dorms, joined a fraternity and became best friends with his roommate Devon. Devon is gay and out and proud, finding a place he felt comfortable with in college. One night in college, after a frat prank, Devon and Hunter are forced to share a bed, and they end up pleasuring themselves because…well.. because they had boners and what is a man to do?
From here, Hunter starts to play with the notion he might be attracted to men, especially to Devon and they start to experiment. But after a car accident when Hunter’s father refuses to let Devon in to see Hunter, their friendship ends.
Four years later, Hunter is engaged to a woman that makes his father proud, but Hunter doesn’t really love her. When she sends him away for a spa weekend to Dallas, Hunter hunts down Devon at the restaurant he is running, and feelings from the past come rushing back.
This is a pretty sexy novella that explores Hunter finally cutting the strings to his overbearing father and following his true path in life. A good portion of the book is a flashback to college when Hunter and Devon first start a physical relationship. It’s a pretty quick read, and I definitely would have enjoyed more pages with these two. Especially more pages in present day.
I enjoyed both Hunter and Devon, although we don’t get to know Devon as well as we do Hunter. I like how their exploration plays out while they are in college. I mean – I love a “handy” scene and when two guys are in bed each performing their own hand job right next to each other? Yeah, that’s hot.
I wish we would have gone a little deeper with the exploration of Hunter and him falling for men. The story is just a little too short for me to get the full impact of their relationship. But it was sexy and fun. I would LOVE a full length m/m romance from this author. I enjoy her voice.

I agree with Sheena. I do wish this was longer as well because Roni has a great style and voice. I’m looking forward to Pike’s book. ;-)
