When I saw this is a romance featuring a hero who delivers pizza, I had to try it. First – pizza is my favorite thing on the planet. Two – it never hurts, to have a hot guy deliver it. I really wanted to see how this story (novella-length) would play out. It’s pretty cute.
Becca is almost done getting her degree to become a social worker. With the stress of studying, she finds herself ordering a lot of pizza. But when she realizes how hot the delivery guy is, she finds herself REALLY ordering a lot of pizza. Tariq is the pizza delivery guy – but he has other aspirations. He is in school to become an architect. With an Iranian father, Egyptian mother and living in both England and the United States, he has a very broad background. He offers to make her dinner, (not pizza, what the heck?) and they hit it off. Tariq falls hard for Becca, and while Becca has those same, fast feelings, she also has a hard time with committment.
Becca’s father is a guy who demands perfection and is rare with the praise. With her mother dying years ago, it’s hard for Becca to feel like she is good enough for her father. She gets scared of being intimate with someone, so when their relationship goes from casual flirting during pizza delivery, to three orgasms in one night -she gets freaked out.
Tariq has a brother whom he is very close with and we learn a little more about their special bond in this book. Becca is obsessed with Bat Girl which I really enjoyed. Had this been a little longer, so we could have explored Becca’s committment fears a little better and had maybe gone a little deeper with Tariq, it would have been more satisfying. For a novella, we get a lot of hot and sexy sex scenes. Tariq not only delivers pizza, he delivers orgasms too.
