Forced to leave her African home in an unwanted quest to have her first London season, Hannah Walpole is in a new country and at the mercy of the infamous ton.  Unsure of herself and sticking out like a sore thumb, Hannah regrets her foray into English Society and dreams of her escape to her home, when an errant garter clip changes the course of her life forever.  Well written historical novels have such a wit and warmth that I seldom pass them up.  This is my first Amy Sandas novel and I have that tell-tale inkling that I have stumbled across something quite special.  A little novella that packs a punch and does its job to whet the appetite for more.  I like that the heroine is a transplant with her own life experiences to bring to the table.  She is an outsider to the ton, yet was bred to have fine manners so when she is plucked from her lush and wild and free surroundings and left to survive the cutting viperous social gang, Hannah has her sense of self to see her through, along with the attentions of a most unrelenting Lord Miles Whitely. *swoon*

There was a rather exaggerated downward pull of his mouth, suggesting he was doing everything he could to hold back his laughter.  As if in an attempt to compensate for the rebellion of his mouth, he had his dark eyebrows drawn low over a striking gaze.   It was in those eyes that Hannah became momentarily lost.  Eyes that laughed despite his solemn expression.

Yep. Still swooning.  Miles was a rake with a wink.  A devilishly handsome and mischievous Lord, he was captivating and interesting from the moment he stepped onto the page. All of his scenes were enchanting and humorous, even when heavier subject matter is eventually tackled.  Initially he checks all the boxes as the cookie cutter historical scoundrel-hero, and then the author begins to peel back his layers, revealing a little more about himself as the story unwound.

To my delight, almost immediately, there is a battle of the wills where I was totally Team Miles, because truly, the lady doth protest too much, when it came to physical and emotional attraction to the smitten rogue Lord.  Hannah is coy yet intrigued, feels the magnetism and does the only thing a girl of those times could do.  Issue a flirtatious challenge! He most certainly can not manage to seduce her. *Bats lashes! Tuh! Duh!*  Hannah is obviously a babe in Miles’ woods and the romantic comedy is golden.  He constantly pushes Hannah’s buttons and short of tumbling her down and exploring her hidden treasure, there was little he was above in his quest to effectively tie her in knots, most often using slight of hand and his silver tipped tongue to unsettle her in a most distressful manner.

“I must say, you are in possession of a gorgeous pair of legs.”   Hannah gasped at t he crude compliment.

He glanced up at her from beneath thick lashes, his emerald green eyes flashing with wickedness.  “Is there anything else you require while I am at your service?”

The mischief in his gaze went straight to her center.

A very fast, blink and it’s over novella, Relentless Lord is a must read.  Fun. Fun and jaunty and just flat-out entertaining, I recommend it to anyone who likes a light sweet comedy to tease the reading palate.  Though pretty low on toe curling passion, there is a wink of sensuality that lent itself well to this jaunty little tale.  Hannah is at a turning point in her life and experiences some personal growth that pushes the envelope more than I expected! I am not a huge fan of over wrought and complicated plots and subplots, especially in novellas, I much rather spend the time engrossed in the hero and heroine’s banter and flirtations, however, there is a bit of a “villain” who is due their comeuppance should the story continue into a spin-off full length novel.  Amy Sandas is an author to watch.  Crank up the heat and allow a little more action in dark corners of a trumped up house party and I am all in to get lost in the next novel.
