If you are in need of a good holiday romance, this is the book to read.
Sky and Alec know each other through mutual friends but they don’t know each other all that well. They actually don’t like each other very much – Alec thinks Sky acts like a princess (she totally doesn’t) and Sky thinks Alec is too grumpy (okay, he is very grumpy). Sky is an artist, designing high-end and paintings and has her first big show. Her fiance, Richard. is a newly elected Senator and their relationship is always about him. Sky grew up in a very cold, calculating house, and her parents are the one that picked Richard for her. They think Sky’s artistic endeavors are immature and that she is wasting her life. When her friends find out Sky’s family won’t be attending her big show, they encourage Alec, who happens to be in London, to stop by and give her some support. This makes Alec grumpy, but he stops by to please his friends. Unfortunately for Sky, she has a very bad night personally (her show goes off brilliantly). She ends up with no fiance and a horrible bump and cut on her head. Alec, realizing she is alone and needs help, takes her back to his hotel room to care for her.
Alec is grumpy because of a very bad marriage and divorce he lived through. Alec is a famous historian, who writes books and does television shows, especially about shipwrecks. He has a lot of devoted female fans due to his good looks. Alec decides Sky’s injuries are taking time to heal, so he invites her to his family’s home for Christmas. All Sky ever wanted was a homey, cozy Christmas, something she never gets at her parents house. But Alec’s family is lovely and welcoming. Sky starts to realize this Alec fellow is a pretty good dude.
I love a grumpy hero, and Alec fits the bill. His ex-wife hurt him badly, and it scares him off of relationships so much, he doesn’t know what to do when he starts to get feelings for Sky. This book does such a nice job going from two people who don’t like each other because they don’t know each other to falling in love. The author takes her time in letting them explore each other and doesn’t rush their romance. I love how surprised Alec is when he realizes his preconceived notions of Sky are wrong. She is very hardworking. Not demanding. She says silly stuff and doesn’t have much of a filter. She longs for the sense of family, something that very much scares Alec, but they work through it.
And they have really good sex. I can’t resist a holiday romance book, especially when the couple gets snowed in. It’s all just very romantic.
And Alec’s kisses are just…perfect
He pulled off the road into a gateway by a field and yanked on the hand brake. Then he put his hand behind her head and pulled her mouth to his.
Whatever she’d expected it hadn’t been this.
Nothing prepared her for the scalding heat of his kiss of the power of her response.
“Oh, God, Alec -”
She’d been kissed plenty of times before and she’d assumed that over the years she’d experienced the whole range from playful to passionate. But this was something different, and she knew that what they’d shared had ripped away some of the insulation he’d used to protect himself from the world. From women.
Alec unleashed, she thought and melted into it.
He licked deep into her mouth, the erotic stroke of his tongue creating an electrifying, intoxicating rush of sensation that swept over her in waves. He kissed her until her limbs weakened and she knew that if she’d been standing, she would have fallen.
Such a cute story, I didn’t want it to end. Great couple and a great romance.

Thanks for reviewing this book. I have my eye on it but…I can’t seem to find a kindle version on Amazon. Is the book not available in digital and/or kindle? TIA!

I think this is only available from the UK publishers at this point in time. I had ordered it in print from a book depository, a UK based company that ships worldwide. I don’t know how e-books work with international companies

Yes, it’s through a UK publisher so maybe that’s why Kindle isn’t available? I went to the author’s website and it looks like only Kindle through Amazon UK. I hope it gets picked up over here.

I’m sad to hear that.

Thanks for looking this up for me. I don’t have space anymore for print books. My reading nowadays is limited to digital.

I think its going to eventually be in the US, at least according to the webpage (I’m not a stalker ;) – Morgan is one of my favorite authors, hence why I ordered it from the UK)
