Mandi News: Blood Kiss by JR Ward was a fun read! Thank you universe! Her first BDB spin-off, we are introduced to a fresh batch of BDB Warrior trainees, but ALL the brothers are still walking around, being menacing to the newbies. That made me smile. Almost the entire book takes place at the BDB mansion. That made me smile. I’d say 50% of the book is Paradise and Craeg (trainees) and the other half is Butch and Marissa. Nothing major happens with them, just a few small kinks to work out. I LOVE Butch in this book. My only complaint is the “I love you” between Craeg and Paradise seems rushed – it seemed more like it should be a – let’s date and see where this goes. Otherwise I liked a lot. Review to come.
I also read Triple Dare by Regina Kyle and enjoyed. A best friend to lovers book, with a firefighter hero and a heroine who made me smile. Quick, easy read with great banter and a lot of sexy scenes. Review coming this week.
Tori’s News: Heading to the State Fair tomorrow. I expect to be rolled out when I leave. I’m all about the food. Then it’s paint with wine on Sunday. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Hearts of Blue by L.H. Cosway (Hearts, #4)-In this standalone romance contemporary, Cosway brings back two secondary characters from book three and builds a seemingly impossible relationship between a police officer and a criminal. Sweet, funny, and bittersweet at times, this couple is undoubtedly perfect for one another, it’s just finding a way to meet and beat the obstacles standing in their way. Review to come.
Mechanic by Alexa Riley is pure unadulterated smutty fun. A Supa dupa alpha hero and a virgin lip biting heroine find insta lurve/lust when her Porsche breaks down and she finds a mechanic willing to service ALL her needs. A fast completely unbelievable read made of pure OTT escapism. I really would have enjoyed it more though if the heroine had offered some resistance.
I also read Alexa Riley’s Taking The Fall series. I didn’t enjoy these as much as the story was predictable (lip biting, spankings, do as I say, & please cum on ma face) and I wanted more concerning the h/H backstory and the conflict surrounding heroine’s father. I actually enjoyed the secondary romance much better. This couple seemed better developed and more realistic in their romance.
Pia Does Hollywood by Thea Harrison. The second novella in a trilogy based solely on the Celebre family offers us an insightful action packed suspenseful look into the Light Fae, troubles for Dragos, and sets us up for the next full length novel. Review to come.
Troublemaker by Leah Remini. An exceptionally funny and sad look back on her journey into and out of Scientology and the toll it has taken on her and her family. She lets some serious accusations and secrets spill in here. Remini only furthers my assertion that Scientology isn’t just a cult but a very dangerous one.
The Geomancer by Clay & Susan Griffith-I was SUPER excited to see the Griffiths had decided to revisit this world. The Geomancer begins a new UF series based on the Vampire Chronicles & centered around Adele & Gareth. They thought the vampires in Britain were dead but recent rash of murders prove them wrong. Plenty of action, suspense, new world building and *happy sigh* ROMANCE!! Word of advice. Do not start here. You must read the trilogy first to understand this world and it’s characters. Review to come.
This weekend I am reading Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews.
