Mandi News: The Truth About Him by Molly O’Keefe was so, so good. The sequel to Everything I Left Unsaid, it wraps up the story and gives us the much anticipated HEA. It was a solid five-star read for me. Annie is just an amazing heroine, my favorite so far this year I think. Her romance with the hero is done so well. And the suspense plays out really great. I’ll be reviewing this week.
Compromising Her Position by Samanthe Beck was just okay for me. It’s your standard wealthy boss falls for his hard working employee. Just felt a little too predicable. Review coming
Sweetest Scoundrel by Elizabeth Hoyt is great. I thought it started off just a bit slow, but it really picks up and Asa Makepeace is so swoony!!! (and naughty!). The heroine, Eve, is lovely too. Review coming this week! Highly rec this one.
News from Tori-The kid is off for 9 days. Hallelujah and pass the wine. That’s nine days of getting to sleep in past 4 am. I gotta get my happy where I can. :)
Dirty Thoughts by Megan Erickson–The first installment of Erickson’s hot, dirty, & incredibly sweet contemporary romance hit all my buttons & then some. This second chance romance gives us a grumpy rough around the edges hero & a heroine who should be sainted for putting up with him. Add in his crazy family and you have a definite winner!
The Lost Soul of Lord Badewyn by Mia Marlowe-The third installment in Marlow’s paranormal historical romance brings us two souls whose compatibility is written in the stars. Though not as action packed as the first two, Marlow still writes a sexy witty romance that blends well with the conflicts that arise. Review to come.
Eighteen by J.A. Huss– Though teacher and student this isn’t a favorite trope of mine, it worked for me in here. I think mainly because the focus remains on the heroine and her strength as she navigates the hardships and complications in her life while keeping the romance as a subplot. A bit angsty & melodramatic with some seriously sexy scenes, I also liked that Huss didn’t force the hero into a likable position. I found him quite abrasive, demanding, and juvenile at times.
Sweet Addiction by J. Daniels– A sweet, sexy, funny, and HOT AS HELL contemporary romance about a commitment phobia couple who reluctantly fall in love amidst nosy best friends, crazy exs, x-rated office sex, and some delicious baked goods.
Sweetest Scoundrel by Elizabeth Hoyt-What can I say? Eve and Asa make this entire book. Enemies to lovers is a favorite trope of mine and from page one they fascinated me with their verbal fencing and attempts to understand one another. Soon hate turns to attraction them more as they find themselves embroiled in a mystery. Explosive chemistry, sensual erotic love scenes, & some humor kept me thoroughly enchanted. A winner all around. I am looking forward to the next book, Eve’s despicable brother, Val. Or… is he?
This weekend I’m reading Fish Stick Friday by Rhys Ford and having a date night with T.
