News from Mandi: Delicate Ink by Carrie Ryan was free on Kindle and the first in her Montgomery series. I liked it – a ton of tropes introduced, but I like the family. Going to read book two soon.
The Heart of It by Molly O’Keefe – This is a novella – a very short novella that would have been an amazing five stars had it been longer. The set-up/beginning is so, so good. But the it jumps forward in time and then it ends very abruptly. Boo. It’s a big, awkward author who was abused as a teen – and the heroine works as a private escort. Review this week.
Sinner’s Creed by Kim Jones – I gave it one star. I say briefly why on Goodreads. Full review this week.
News from Tori: Chloe Neill’s Midnight Marked is an action packed thrill ride that sets readers up for the final book. Suspense and intrigue blends well with the established romance and humorous dialogue that dots the landscape. Be prepared to laugh and gasp out loud when Merit takes on the windy city’s latest villain. Review to come.
I devoured Susan Fanetti’s Night Horde SoCal series this week. A spin off of her intense and heartbreaking Signal Bend series, Fanetti doesn’t hold back the love, loss, grief, and redemption as she continues to build and finally resolving an ongoing arc that puts this series and the parent series to bed for good. Make sure you have a box of tissues handy, especially for the last book-Calm & Storm.
I picked up Twisted Bonds (Holly Woods Files, #1) by Emma Hart on a rec by Has from The BookPushers. Perfect for fans Stephanie Plum who want the same family oriented story chalked full of humor, mystery, and strong antagonistic romance but without the love triangle. I enjoyed it a lot though the antagonism between the hero and heroine is REALLY strong and the dialogue between them could be off-putting at times. Review to come.
Duke of Sin by Elizabeth Hoyt is in my opinion the best book to date in this series. A literary feast comprised of complicated layers and magnificent protagonists whose journey is littered with humor, lust, secrets, and revelations. Review to come closer to release date.
Sweet by Skye Warren-A sexy erotic little niblet where the shy sister of a criminal finally decides to make a move on her brother’s very sexy and older lawyer. This one sort of prequels Warren’s just released, Deep. Sweet is currently free on AMZ.
Hammer by Chelsea Camaron and Jessie Lane. I had high hopes for this one. I enjoyed book one in this series-Ice- and expected a similar action ladened testosterone packed storyline with this one. Unfortunately , I couldn’t stand the hero. Styled as a “bad boy to be tamed by a good girl” Hammer was a arse. Rude, crude, obnoxious…and not in an appealing way. I also had issues with a particular sex scene in the beginning. Review to come.
This weekend I’m reading Degrees of Control by Eve Dangerfield and going to go see Deadpool.
