I really enjoyed Chanel Cleeton’s previous political series, so when I heard she was doing a new series about fighter pilots, I got excited! Top Gun, y’all!! Except as we learn from our hero, it’s not Top Gun. These guys are in the Air Force, Top Gun was the Navy. Whatever! (There are a lot of cute top gun references in this book though).
U.S. Air Force fighter pilot Noah Miller is kind of getting tired of the dating scene. Living in Oklahoma City, but currently on a job in Vegas, he knows he can use his fighter pilot status to get laid, but it gets old after a while. At a bar with his Wild Aces buddies, (his fellow fighter pilots) after a long day of work, his best friend Easy (that’s his call name. Noah’s call name is Burn), really wants to get in on the bachelorette action he sees on the dance floor. Being a good friend and wingman, Noah grudgingly agrees to walk over with him, and then he spots the most beautiful woman he has ever seen.
Jordan Callahan lives in Florida and owns her own clothing boutique. She is in Vegas for her sister’s bachelorette party and is wondering if she is too old to be wearing a tiara with penises on it. And then walks over a very sexy guy. They share a hot dance. They go somewhere more private to have a drink. Jordan has never been more turned on in her life….but she decides to play hard to get and goes home by herself that night.
The next day when Noah tracks Jordan down by the pool, he isn’t going to let her get away so easily…which is fine by Jordan. They start an intense love affair, but with Jordan having to go back home to Florida, and Noah home to Oklahoma City, they have to figure out if what was started in Vegas is genuine enough for a long distance relationship.
This book surprised me in how erotic it is. Not only is there hot sex, but it’s frequent hot sex. I’m not complaining. I really enjoyed both Noah and Jordan. They are both at a point in their lives where the dating scene is getting old for them, yet jumping into a committed relationship makes them pause for a minute. They fall in love pretty fast in this book, which actually worked for me. The author writes such good chemistry between them that their declaration of love early on didn’t phase me as it usually does.
We learn a lot of details about being a fighter pilot, you could tell the author did her research. Jordan knows nothing about the Air Force, and her genuine interest in it makes Noah happy.
“What’s that?”
“Major rank.”
I trailed my hand down to his chest, tracing the stitching on the patch with his name, Noah Miller, and his call sign, Burn. I moved over to his shoulder, to the patch with the lettering that said “Aces Wild” and had a picture of an F-16 on it.
“And this one?”
“Squadron patch. Our squadron is the Wild Aces.”
I touched the patch on his other shoulder, reading the words there.”
“This one?”
“It says that I graduated from weapons school.” He grinned. “And yes, as much as it pains me to admit it, it is kind of like the Air Force’s version of Top Gun.”
My gleamed. “So you’re kind of a badass.”
His hand reached out, skimming under the hem of the T-shirt, palming my ass, squeezing, molding me against his cock.
Noah apparently likes to be called a badass *wink*
So it’s all happiness and orgasms until they have to go home and have several states between them. Flying in for a weekend here and there for a hot make-out session is fun, but then they realize they want more of a committed relationship. There is also the fact that Noah’s job is not only demanding but unpredictable. He can be called away on a mission on the drop of a dime. He just can’t call out sick and go visit Jordan. It puts a lot of pressure on Jordan to be the one to drop her life and meet his needs. Jordan doesn’t love this and a time or two she acts out, but it made it seem realistic to me.
There is heartbreak in this one too – and the author does a nice job with it.
I liked this one and I really like getting to know the other fighter pilots. Eric aka Thor’s book is next and I’m ready for it.

Just one-clicked this last night. So far so good! I’ve been waiting for a great Vegas hookup-turned-romance story, and this one fits the bill.
