News from Mandi:
If you want a shorter-length urban fantasy, try Martinis with the Devil by AA Chamberlynn (review above). Although it does leave on a cliffhanger of sorts – but it’s well done for 130 pages. I really enjoyed the heroine. (and book two is out).
If you want a slower-paced western historical with very well developed characters (picture yourself just moseying on down a dirt lane on a horse, enjoying the scenery type slow – happy slow) then try Devil You Know by Jo Goodman. (review above).
I’m almost done Love and Learn by Ava Blackstone. It’s okay but not loving it – the heroine isn’t doing a lot for me.
Up next is The Rule Book by Jennifer Blackwood and several people have said it’s really good. I’ll be reviewing it this week!
News From Tori: Casa Benson is TIRED. Lots of EOC exams in the past month. Luckily, the kid has her last one Monday. Thank the baby Jesus. Reading wise, it’s been an okay week. I fell into a Jennifer Crusie re read marathon and it sucked up alot of my time.
Jenna Black’s Divine Descendant was worth the long wait. It picks up where book three left off and builds a suspenseful action packed adventure while tying up some loose ends. Black giving us a new storyline that is sure to set the next issue on fire. I only hope it’s not another three year wait. Review to come.
I picked up Return of the Bad Boy by Jessica Lemmon because fellow reviewer, Helyce loved it. Eh, it was okay. I enjoyed the evolution of the bad boy hero and his actions and feelings about his son were spot on. Also the super hawt sex scenes were definitely a plus. My problem was the heroine. I didn’t like her. I found her annoying and exhausting. All she does is fight the hero, run away, and send very mixed signals. This is my second time reading Lemmon. I just don’t think we are a good fit.
I thoroughly enjoy Suzanne Wright’s Phoenix Pack series and Savage Urges fit into the series perfectly. A grumpy broody alpha wolf meets his match in a packless wolf (loner )who isn’t the least bit intimidated by him. I love Wright has brought new blood into the pack and they all seem to hate Greta too. LOL Plenty of high octane full monty loving blends well with the intense and creepy storyline. I’m looking forward to the next in the series.
The Billionaire’s Favorite Mistake by Jessica Claire. A humorous and sexy friends to lovers contemporary romance. An enjoyable laughter filled escape with only a few minor issues. Fans will adore Greer and Asher’s bumpy ride to their happily ever after. Review to come.
This weekend I’m reading L.H. Cosway’s Showmance and Lauren Blakely’s Mister O. I loved Big Rock so I expect great things from this one.
What I read this week.
The Rule Book by Jen Blackwood– Saw a few people talking about this on Twitter. I really enjoyed it. A fast and comedic romance. Lainey is awkward and silly and falls for her hot boss Brogan. A moderately slow burn romance book.
Good Girl (Love Unexpectedly) by Lauren Layne Country songstress meets average guy and love happens. I enjoyed this. Review to come.
Coming Back (Ink & Chrome 3) by Lauren Dane– Third in a series, this book features a relationship with two men and a women that were together a few years ago but broke up and have reconciled. I felt like it was missing a little of the back story on exactly how these three decided to go for relationship instead of them jumping right back into it.
Reading this week- Reading Topped by Kayti McGee, so far it is a fun enemies to lovers trope. One Night with the CEO by Mia Sosa
