Dirty Sexy Inked in the second book in Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde’s fast and dirty erotic romance series that revolves around three brothers-the Kincades. This sweet and outrageously sexy friends to lovers story surprised me with how well it was developed and portrayed. I had expected it to be more gratuitous and framed towards sex without the plot or emotions to back it up.  Happily, I was wrong. Titillating and humorous dialogue, along with some explosive chemistry and honest emotional narrative, helps to flesh out our protagonists as they discover the passion and desire that has been slowly brewing between them since they first met. Sexually explicit love scenes blend well with the mild angst and personal growth our lovers experience as they struggle with the new path their relationship has taken.

“They were two damaged people who’d managed to heal each other with something as simple as unconditional love. The fact that they were best friends who had phenomenal sex was a bonus.”

The chemistry between Mason and Kat practically melts your kindle. The sexual tension cuts like a knife as Kat tries to keep her feelings reigned in while Mason flirts, struts, and makes innuendos to every female in the vicinity but her. When Kat changes the parameters of their relationship, twelve years of foreplay finally erupts into one night of mind blowing, hot, heavy, sweat dripping, wall banging, heart pounding, moment that changes this pair’s dynamics. Watching them try to handle the ramifications of that night is both humorous and sad. Phillips and Wilde show sensitivity with some serious subject matters. The introduction of this doesn’t feel like a plot device but more an intimate view into Kat and Mason’s past and present issues for better understanding.

Kat and Mason are a perfect fit for one another. Both are intelligent, fearless, strong people with an endless passion for life.  They just have to let go of the fears holding them back. Kat fears Mason will reject her love and Mason fears he will eventually hurt her and lose his best friend. Jealousy and pain offer the much-needed push when an old friend comes back into town but honest communication proves to be the valuable tool that allows them to give voice to their objections and to overcome them.

Dirty Sexy Inked is a fast and dirty read that hits all your buttons for a sexy and sensitive friends to lovers romance. I am looking forward to reading Levi’s story as he seems the darkest horse of the brothers.
