Favorite Quote: “Are you lonely?” He lifts his head slowly, pitching me with such an intense stare, it holds me in place. “Not when I’m with you,” he whispers.
Callahan is a former Army sniper who has come to Kiawah Island, SC to find some peace from all the horror he experienced during the war. Sexy but grumpy, he is content to stay to himself in the house his uncle left him. Romance is not in the cards for him. Until he meets Trinity.
Trinity has just graduated from college and is spending her last summer of freedom with her friends on Kiawah Island A perpetually good natured girl with always a smile and a joke, she is forever being seen as someone’s best friend rather than the woman everyone wants to date. When she sees Callahan bartending at her favorite bar, she is taken in by his good looks and his deep sorrow. Determined to get to know him better, she does everything possible to get his attention.
Like a burr stuck to his shoe, Callahan can’t seem to shake her. Everywhere he goes, every time he turns around she’s there talking his ear off and instigating herself into his life. Before he knows it, Trinity has drawn him into her orbit and he begins to see redemption in her eyes and peace in her arms. Callihan is everything Trinity has ever wanted in a man and in a relationship. For the first time in her life, she knows what true love is. But soon summer will come to an end and Trinity will have to leave Callahan and the love they have found.
What do you do when the person you know will break your heart…is you?
Cecy Robson changes her tone for her newest venture-a contemporary romance series-Carolina Beach. Set on the beautiful island of Kiawah in South Carolina, Robson does justice to the beauty and versatility of the island and its inhabitants. Natives of South Carolina will enjoy the time and effort in the descriptive narrative laid out.
Inseverable comes off in the beginning as a lightweight humorous NA romance contemporary with a strong inspirational tone. It’s only as we get to know our protagonists-Callihan and Trinity-do we see the deeper issues at hand as Robson builds a sweet and lightly dramatic romance that deals with love, hope, and forgiveness. Well plotted with an array of personable and defined characters. Smooth flowing conversational dialogue engulfs you and draws you right into the middle of their lives.
Trinity is a force of nature. She is the cheerleader, homecoming queen, and future world leader all rolled up in a tiny package. Smart, funny, loyal, and as exuberant as a well over carbonated drink. Though a college graduate, she has a very youthful tone to her narrative and actions. She seems to be balanced right on the cusp while Callahan comes off far more adult due to his background. Growing up with a rich but generous family, Trinity has spent much of her life giving back to the world. So much so that she has signed up for two years in the Peace Corp when summer ends. Trinity takes some time to get used to but she eventually grows on you once she calms down. Meeting Callahan blindsides her. She is unprepared for her reaction to him and the sorrow she sees deep in his eyes. She decides to make it her life mission to bring this taciturn man out of his shell before summer’s end. From stalking Callahan at the local bar to conveniently showing up on his morning runs, Callahan doesn’t stand a chance.
“I confess, that while it was his appearance that first made me want to know him, it’s the man beneath all this muscle that makes me want to keep him.”
Callahan is an island unto himself. A former military man, he has seen all the horror and heartache war can deliver. Born into poverty, he went directly into the military after high school in order to make a better life for himself. Quiet, gruff, and surly, he doesn’t want anything to do with Trinity. She is everything he dislikes-loud, obnoxious, well-off, and young in terms of life experiences. Yet he can no more resist her then the tide can stop churning in and out. She is life and eventually becomes his life.
“I was lured to Kiawah by the desolate silence and peace I thought it promised… Instead I fell head over heels for the loudest, craziest, most in-you-face human being.”
Robson does a wonderful job of drawing out Trinity and Callahan, giving them a good solid base on which to form a relationship. Their witty and sometimes antagonistic banter, along with Trinity’s devil may care attitude, will keep you laughing as she keeps pushing at Callahan, slowly tearing down each wall he’s built around himself. The chemistry between them is an electric storm that flares white hot as they slowly move into a physical relationship. The difference is night and day once Callahan fully accepts Trinity in his life. He is gentle and loving with her and I love the dirty mouth and mind on this girl. She says it like it is and has no qualms about telling her man exactly what she wants and how she wants it.
“I wouldn’t start anything you can’t finish.”
“Now, baby. When have I ever not finished?”
The secondary characters are as vibrant and outgoing as Trinity. They add so much humor and cohesion to the story while helping to set up additional future storylines. The ending comes at us rather fast and furious. The main conflict resolved a tad too easily for the emotional build up and onslaught it produced but a nice and informative epilogue helps to smooth over any disgruntled feelings. Fans of Robson are sure to be pleasantly surprised by the change in her voice and tone and what she produces-a well rounded romance contemporary pulls out some smiles and laughter while tugging at your heartstrings.

Just based off the cover and synopsis I would’ve seriously overlooked or disregarded this read. I’m glad it had more depth to it than normal NA stories. Glad you enjoyed it!
