News from Tori:
MacLean’s Passion by Sharon Cullen–A scottish historical romance set during the Jacobite rising of 1745. A young woman disguises herself as a boy and goes off to fight in the Battle of Culloden and finds herself taken prisoner by the English. She is rescued along with a clan chieftain and finds herself on the adventure of a lifetime. The narrative has a modern sound to it and the dramatic moments were easily resolved without to much angst. Review to come.
The Daredevil Snared by Stephanie Laurens–I ended up DNFing this one. Laurens sets up the world and conflict admirably but the narrative is overwhelming. We are told so much but shown very little. She takes us step by step through each person’s actions (and there is quite a numerous cast) with little action and so much civility. I didn’t even make it to the 30% mark before I just couldn’t take anymore.
True North Tamsen Parker- A man pushes his wife away in order to spare her his dark sexual needs only to discover he made a mistake and has a chance to redeem himself and get her back if he has the desire and nerve to do so. Parker writes a deliciously dirty and quite humorous second chance erotic romance that touches on some extreme kink and the lengths some will go to hide it from the ones they love.
This weekend I’m reading Bounce Back by K.M. Jackson and Forevermore by Kristen Callihan.
News from Kini:
Slowly getting back to my more typical reading habits. I actually read a book outside of the two I read for reviews! Progress.
Idol by Kristen Callihan– I really loved this book. Killian was great. Rock star Alpha, but not over the top. Libby was great at not taking his shit. LOVED it. Really looking forward to reading Scotty’s book.
Inconsolable by Ainslie Paton– I am about 45% through and really enjoying it. The author write stories with characters that are kind of fucked up and the heroes are generally more beta than alpha. So far, right on that track. This particular story was pointed out after a Twitter convo about vomit as a thing happening in romance.
This week I am trying very hard to not read any NA books. I am on a 20 something/NA timeout. I will probably bust out of time out in order to read the newest Sarina Bowen. I would love a rec or two- contemporary only though.

Just finished Idol a well—LOVED it.
