News from Mandi: I listened to Sutphin Boulevard by Santino Hassell and I really enjoyed it. Super angsty, super sexy – and the narrator did a good job. I like this author’s voice.
Then my reading went downhill. I DNF’d Furious Rush by SC Stephens – the heroine and I did not get along. She came off too immature for me. (I dnf’d pretty early on)
I also DNF’d All the Lights by K. Ryan. I was bored and could not get into it.
In My Arms Tonight by Sasha Clinton – oh my. There were so many little things that didn’t make sense in this book that it turned into big problems. Reviewing next week.
I’m currently reading Last Chance Rebel by Maisy Yates and I’m enjoying! Reviewing next week!
News from Tori:
J.D. Robb’s Apprentice in Death–The 43rd installment takes us effortlessly back into the life of Eve and Roarke when the city finds itself smack dab in the middle of a serial killer spree. Comfortable yet exciting, Robb once again builds a thrilling suspense that hits Eve and the NYSPD where it hurts the most. Review to come.
Bonds of Trust by Lydia Archer–The first in a 10 part series opens the door into seductive BDSM relationship between a woman seeking to reclaim her sexuality after a sex-less marriage and a man whose inability to commit wars with is need to possess her for his own. Though novella length, Archer builds a full body story that is intense, emotional, and extremely hot. Review will post in NOV issue of RT Book Reviews.
Flashpoint and Oxygen Deprived by Lani Lynn Vale– I enjoy this series overall though it has become extremely predictable plot wise. The characterization is the strength of all her series and these two don’t disappoint. If you like fast sexy reads with goofy in your face heroines and strong alpha heroes who don’t stand a chance then look no further.
The Play by Karina Halle–I’ve read the first couple in this series and while I knew them to be a wee bit angst driven, this one through me for a loop. Halle addresses some serious subject matter in here and doesn’t allow the reader much down time as she introduces us to a hero and heroine whose intense and devastating love for one another may not be enough to save them from the demons that haunt them.
This weekend I’m reading Sarah McLean’s A Scott in the Dark.
