Twenty-One-Year-Old College Student Becca Stewart has lived her life by the rules and never stepped over any lines. For once in her life she wants to be the bad girl and enjoy what she’s missing out on. She’s had a crush on the star quarterback at her university and decides to tell him how she feels. He’s all in for a night of wild sex until she confesses to being a virgin. Telling her he’d love to give her what she wants if she wasn’t innocent, she decides to fight for him.
Hiring a gigolo isn’t something Becca ever thought she’d do, but having Bryce is worth it. Taking the small nest egg her grandmother left her she hires Colton Dillard and flies out to Las Vegas to get the experience she needs. Colton owns a company that pleasures women for profit, but he’s not exactly who he claims to be! Six foot four inches of pure sensuality, he’s every woman’s dream and just the man to teach her the ways of unadulterated sex.
One trip to Sin City will change Becca’s life forever. Being seduced by a stranger paid to give her all the pleasure she’s ever craved might do more than wake up her hidden passion. It’s one whirlwind ride of ecstasy, temptation, and discovering that sometimes you don’t know what you really want until it sweeps you off your feet! (Goodreads)
I’ve been in quite the reading slump and with a title as bold as ½ Cocked I hoped that this would be the book that knocked me out of my reading slumber. But that wasn’t to be the case. I’ve included the blurb because it pretty much summarizes this story and, well, why reinvent the wheel…
Let’s start with Becca. I liked Becca, initially. I could relate to her in a few ways. In my much younger years, I too had crushed on a boy that was way out of my league. Interestly, though, the author leads us to believe that Becca is attractive, intelligent and confident while at the same time telling us that she has issues with her body image. Her decision to give up her virginity to the handsome college football star is nothing new. I imagine this is a regular event in the college scene–but here I found it a bit confusing that a smart, rule follower like Becca would choose this for herself. To make matters worse, when said jock turns her down she takes her life savings and goes to Vegas for a week to learn how to pleasure a man by engaging the services of a male gigolo.
Say what?
Enter Colton Dillard, gigolo (not). While he and his brother own the company that provides services to women, Colton works only the business end and doesn’t have any clients of his own. But, when his brother double books himself, and Colton learns of Becca’s virginal status and reason for coming to them for assistance, he decides that he will step in and teach her everything he knows about pleasure.
At this point, the story becomes a big sex fest with Colton treating Becca like a queen and pleasuring her in ways she’d never imagined possible. Their connection is incredible, making the acts emotional and very quickly hearts become involved. Colton is determined to initiate every single one of Becca’s firsts. Though they try to keep their week together in the proper perspective, it’s clear to the reader that hearts are getting involved in a big way.
From a fantasy perspective, this story delivers. Colton is a talented lover and what woman wouldn’t want the chance to be worshiped and experience total sexual pleasure if it’s offered. Add in the emotional connection and the experience would be nothing short of perfect. But this is the whole book; Colton, teaching Becca the ropes and Becca benefiting from his expertise. While we get a hint at what’s going on in their minds and their worry about having to part, that’s really it. And what Becca does when she returns to school caught me off guard seeing as she knew she had feelings for Colton.
So, flashy title, and multiple orgasms aside-this book was not for me.
