This is the first time I’ve read this author and she knows how to write a super grumpy hero and a heroine who will not have any of it!
Erin is a defense attorney working for a large firm and trying to prove herself to her bosses. Her current case has her in court, with detective Daniel Cruz on the stand. She may come in a small package, but her attitude and determination to win her case, comes at you strong. She knows Daniel personally, as her best friend, Priya, fell in love with Daniel’s partner Brian recently (aka book one). She knows he is stubborn, cold, and stone-faced. So she goes at him hard in court, ends up embarrassing herself and having to take a plea bargain for the case. Humiliated, she heads for a taco restaurant, which as we all know – tacos can make anything better.
Because Daniel is close with Priya and Brian and they all hang out together, she can’t help but run into him time and time again. And whenever she sees him, the insults start flying out of both of them. When Daniel was a fresh-faced detective, he was sent deep undercover into a violent gang, where he witnessed things that still haunt him today. He is having a hard time transitioning back into normal life. He doesn’t really like people. He prefers to be at home, cooking. But the feisty Erin is slowing melting his stone-cold exterior. She is so full of fire, even when he insults her and her career, he kind of does it just to see her all riled up.
This passionate fighting soon turns a passionate romance…sort of. Erin and Daniel have a lot of hot and heavy kisses and intense make-out sessions before one of them pushes the other away and sometimes literally runs away. Erin is afraid of commitment and has a hard time letting her past go. But these two have wonderful chemistry and sexual tension. I looooooove a super grumpy hero and Daniel fit the bill so well. My only complaint is that this is novella length and the end comes so fast. I needed more time with them happy, and sure of their relationship. Otherwise a fun read. I want to go back and read book one.

This does sound appealing, Mandi; thanks for bringing it to my attention.
