I really enjoyed this book – it’s funny and super sexy, similar to book one, Royally Screwed. Book two is also good but not as good as Screwed and Endowed. All can be read as stand alones.
This one features two non-royals, but the royals are in their life. Our hero is Logan, personal bodyguard to the royal family of Wessco (a made-up country but similar to England). Henry, the future king (hero from book two) and Nicholas (Henry’s brother and hero from book one) and their respective significant others along with the Queen and everyone else that lives in the palace keep Nicholas and his team of security detail busy. But when he travels to New York and meets Ellie one summer, his life is forever changed.
Ellie is Olivia’s sister (Olivia is married to Nicholas – we need a family tree!) and only seventeen. She is bubbly and super smart. She doesn’t have much of a filter and wants to experience everything life throws at her. With an alcoholic dad and a sister who falls in love with a prince, her life is full of ups and downs. When Nicholas and Olivia travel back to Wessco, Nicholas asks Logan to stay in New York and keep a strict eye on Ellie. Logan agrees and while he protects her day and night, he really gets to know her.
Let me note that this story takes place over five years. We get some big times jumps as Ellie finishes high school, and the goes to college and gets her degree etc…, all with Logan standing guard by. Nothing romantic happens at all until Ellie graduates college – well, except that they have completely fallen for each other – but they are too scared to cross that romantic line.
“Are you all right?” I ask.
And there’s a tortured note in my voice – anguished and sorry.
Her spine straightens and her hand stays on the knob while she turns around. Her blue eyes shine with unshed tears.
“You must think I’m so stupid,” she whispers, making my chest squeeze painfully.
“I don’t think that. I never would.”
Oh Logan – just tell her you love her already!
Logan comes from a bad part of town. His father is in prison and his family can be violent. He joined the military to escape it all when he was fifteen and caught the eye of palace security and accepted a job with the royal family. He takes his job very seriously and can be very intense and broody. While Ellie does catch his eye, he always is professional in his job. He becomes close and develops a strong trust-bond with Nicholas, keeping everyone safe. When Nicholas’s pregnant wife starts receiving very dark, threatening letters, the team goes into high alert. This adds a bit of suspense to this book, but stays in the background for the most part.
Ellie just shines in this book. She is adorable. Her motto is “When life gives you lemons, suck the lemon dry” – he wants to “live every bit of life, experience everything it has to offer, good and bad.” And she really does. She jumps into life ready for whatever it has to throw at her. Even when she is so nervous to finally admit to Logan that she really, really likes him:
But the only way I’ll ever do that is by confronting them – him. By laying it on the line, putting my bare, beating heart on the table for him to see. And if he smashes it with a sledgehammer, well…this analogy took a dark turn…but the point is: Logan either wants me like I want him, or he doesn’t.
It’s time to find out.
Logan doesn’t want to let Nicholas down or cross any ethical lines – but it comes to a point where he can’t deny his attraction and love to Ellie anymore. They have super hot, intense, broody sex and it was worth the five-year wait *wink*
I feel like this book has everything – a very sexy, fun romance. Rich supporting characters that add so, so much to this book. Henry is ridiculous and hilarious. Nicholas is trying to prepare for fatherhood and keep his wife safe. And the queen sniffs and tries to keep order in the palace, and chaos out. I love her.
Highly recommend this one.

I can’t wait to read this one. I had it on pre-order and am super annoyed that I haven’t had time yet to jump in. I really liked the previous books especially the second one – Prince Henry was funny and a solid character. Thanks for the lovely review.

Sidenote: the audio book versions of previous books in the series are read by a man w the best sexy accent and delivery.

I’m saving this for later. I loved the blurb but I got to the first (maybe only?! Idk) flashback chapter and stopped. For some reason, I am super annoyed lately by the use of flashbacks. Like I want my stories in chronological order right now. i really don’t understand myself. Great review though

This book has a lot of big time jumps forward….I’m not a huge fan of flashback either but I wasn’t annoyed in this one.
