August Mini Reviews
News from Kini: I finished Saving Mr. Perfect by Tamara Morgan and it was okay. I really like this author’s voice and think Penelope Blue is a great character. But I think the love and romance gets pushed to the side for the sake of the caper/suspense. Unlikely I will read the third book in this series.
Kiss My Boots by Harper Sloan. A second chance romance, one of my favorites. Too much page time given to the hero explaining things to the heroine’s brother. I felt like I missed out on some of their reconnection.
On audio I listened to Isn’t She Sweet by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. This book came up based on something I tweeted about so I gave it a try. Heroine returns to her childhood home and falls in love. I really enjoyed it. I did not enjoy the way the narrator did the hero’s voice. It made him sound as if he was from regency England. And the story took place in Mississippi in the early 2000’s. It was weird.
I am about 50% done with Maybe I Do by Nicole McLaughlin, out 8/29. So far it’s cute and kind of sweet. The hero is older than the heroine and that makes him panic. A lot. Review to be posted soon.

News from Mandi: When the Scoundrel Sins by Anna Harrington has a cute hero and heroine, but the entire book the heroine is trying to find a husband, with the hero’s help, and it got a little tiring – since you obviously know she will end up with the hero. There were a few things at the end that frustrated me too. Review coming next week.
Wild Ride Cowboy by Maisey Yates takes me back to the Donnelly brothers, who I love. However, this one felt too predictable and I didn’t love the heroine. Review coming next week.
I’m currently reading Mess With Me by Nicole Helm– reclusive, mountain hero. I’ll report back.
P.S – anyone read anything amazing recently?? I’m in a bit of a slump.
Kini says
Mandi, I’m kind of in a slump too. Nothing has been horrible, but none have been fantastic.

Slump here too!! I just reread The Last Hour of Gann. Now that is a freakin story. I LOVE the h and H. I forgot how much.
But I’m looking for something new and nothing is catching me
Mandi says
I just started rereading this too! LOL

I love it so much. Try to explain to someone what you’re reading and they’re like “huh?!?” But OMG the way these two fall in love. It is insane and so funny and sad and just WOW. I read it like two years ago but I forgot how good it is
