Subscription services are all the rage. You name it, you can buy it for a monthly fee. Makeup, snacks, whole dinners, crafts, cleaning products…and now books.
Smexy Books was recently contacted to review Bawdy Bookworms-a romance book subscription service. According to founder Thein-Kim Lam, she believes every woman deserves a happy ending. The Bawdy Book Box was created for smart woman who enjoy reading well written romances with plenty of hot sexy scenes and matched with an adult themed toys and other sensual surprises. Set up quarterly, the subscription service costs $34.95 +$6 per quarter. You can also purchase one-time gift boxes in the ship. Bawdy Bookworms ships to the US and internationally.
My box arrived Priority in a plain white box with the return address TKL Enterprises (website states CC statement will show the same-TKL Enterprises). Mail woman had no idea what I was getting which was nice, though to be honest, she really doesn’t care. She pretty uncurious for the USPS. Now the UPS guy? He’s convinced I either have a crush on him or I hate him because he is forced to navigate my unmaintained dirt roads once a day to deliver a book.
Upon opening the box, I see some lovely black tissue with pink ribbon and a note on top. Note is from founder and tells me about the box, the service, and what I can expect. This box is called The Fall Box.
Inside I find a book, The Flirtation by Tara Sue Me, and a set of BDSM themed products which I listed below.
1 mini crop
1 mini rabbit finger vibrator (batteries included-NICE)
1 How-to brochure on BDSM
1 laminated card with kink games and limits
1 penis shaped tube of lipstick
1 deck of D/s playing cards
1 bottle of sensual bubble bath
I liked that everything was well crafted and themed to the book (I’ve already read this book and enjoyed it.) The BDSM brochure is surprisingly educational and covers many topics from limits, to terms and explanations, to consent. The rabbit silicone has an insertable bullet vibrator that is speed adjustable. The playing cards and laminated card are interesting and offer something for everyone whether you’re a novice or pro. The little crop is hilarious as is the dic-stick (Yes, I had to go there). I didn’t try the bubble bath as I am allergic to liquid bubble bath but it smells divine.
So, is the box worth it? I think so. The price is decent-the book and vibrator alone adds up to $32. Then you get another $10-$15 in extras. I also checked out some other reviews to see how the unique factor was. It looks like Bawdy tries hard to tailor the contents around the book selection. The possibilities are limitless for these boxes. They are perfect for the novice who wants to explore erotic romance or for long time fans who want a sumptin-sumptin with their read.
Now for the fun part!! Bawdy Bookworms sent me an extra box by mistake but said I am more than welcome to give it away. One commenter will win a Fall Box. U.S. addresses only. Winner will be chosen at random on Sunday-10/17.
Never fear if you don’t win the box because you are always a winner with us. Bawdy Bookworms is offering a discount code for all Smexy readers. 10% off your first quarterly box with the code SMEXYB. The Fall Box is currently sale through October 25th. Good for U.S and International buyers.
