News from Mandi:
I’m currently reading Down by Contact by Santino Hassell, book two in his m/m football series. I recently read book one and enjoyed it. This one has one hero isn’t the most likable at first, but twitter tells me he works himself out ;) I’ll be reviewing next week.
I’m sticking with m/m and reading Relay by Layla Reyne next.
News From Tori: Earl Interrupted by Amanda Forester–The 2nd book in Forester’s Daring Marriages series introduces a woman on the run and a pirate captain Earl who’s looking to settle down. The mischievous humor and slow-burning romance blend well with the long-reaching arc. My only qualm was the religious bent. I didn’t expect it and Foresters use of it really serves little purpose. Review to come.
Dana Marie Bell-I was rec’d this author in a huge romance book group discussion on Twitter so I picked up a couple of her books and thoroughly enjoyed. Similar to Georgette St Clare’s PNRs, these supernatural romances are quick steamy reads infiltrated with laughter and usually a small mystery. I read Wallflower and Bear Necessities; both shifter romances that fall within the same world.
Till Death by Jennifer Armentrout– This romance suspense has a creepy factor of 8 when the sole survivor of a sadistic serial killer returns home after being gone for years only to discover that the killer may have had a partner. And they are killing again. Armentrout incorporates a sexy second chance romance with a solid dark thriller that kept me guessing to the end.
This weekend I’m reading These Wounds Run Deep by Ember Leigh and HOPING to get to Blood Fury by J.R Ward.
News from Kini:
The Ones Who Got Away by Roni Loren– A second chance at love for a couple that experienced a tragedy. This was the first Loren book for me and I enjoyed it. Great chemistry and I LOVED how Lexi and Becca were not pitted against each other as romantic rivals.
Man Card by Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby– I liked this one way better than the first book. Review to be posted soon.
Match Made in Manhattan by Amanda Stauffer– Women’s fiction about a woman navigating online dating that I read for my podcast and even though the blurb alludes to a potential love interest, I did not get a HEA and the Smexy group chat had to listen to me bitch about it via text.
On audio I listened to The Opposite of You by Rachel Higginson– a slow-burn romance about chefs who aren’t really in competition. If you like Mariana Zapata books, you may enjoy this.
I am currently listening to The Choices I’ve Made by JL Berg. I read several of her books way back and picked this one up. Second chance at love stories are one of my favorites. The accents aren’t great, but it’s okay.
I just started Twice in a Lifetime by Jodie Griffin, pubs 1/22/18. It features main characters over 40, so I am very excited about that. Review to be posted soon.
