Here’s what I’m reading to share with you next Tuesday…
Three Days Missing by Kimberly Belle. July 1, 2018
When Kat Jenkins awakens to the police on her doorstep, her greatest fear is realized. Her nine-year-old son, Ethan, is missing—vanished from the cabin where he’d been on an overnight field trip with his class. Shocked and distraught, Kat rushes to the campground where he was last seen. But she’s too late; the authorities have returned from their search empty-handed after losing Ethan’s trail in the mountain forest.
Another mother from the school, Stef Huntington, seems like she has it all: money, prominence in the community, a popular son and a loving husband. She hardly knows Kat, except for the vicious gossip that swirls around Kat’s traumatic past. But as the police investigation unfolds, Ethan’s disappearance will have earth-shattering consequences in Stef’s own life—and the paths of these two mothers are about to cross in ways no one could have anticipated.
Racing against the clock, their desperate search for answers begins—one where the greatest danger could lie behind the everyday smiles of those they trust the most.
I adore Kimberly Belle’s voice. Extremely versatile, she has a gift for creating dynamic characters and compelling scenes. Three Days Missing is a smooth flowing domestic thriller that addresses every parents nightmare and the ties that bind us all together. I was racing with anticipation to the end. Definitely a page turner. Goodreads I Kindle
Moonlight Seduction by Jennifer Armentrout. June 26, 2018
Nicolette Bresson never thought she’d return to the de Vincents’ bayou compound. It’s where her parents work, where Nikki grew up… and where she got her heart broken by Gabriel de Vincent himself. Yet here she is, filling in for her sick mother. Avoiding Gabe should be easy, especially when so much of Nikki’s time is spent trying not to be stabbed in the back by the malicious hangers-on who frequent the mansion. But escaping memories of Gabe, much less his smoking-hot presence, is harder than expected—especially since he seems determined to be in Nikki’s space as much as possible.
Gabriel spent years beating himself up over his last encounter with Nikki. He’d wanted her then, but for reasons that were bad for both of them. Things have now changed. Gabe sees more than a girl he’s known forever; he sees a smart, talented, and heartbreakingly beautiful woman… one who’s being stalked from the shadows. Now, Gabe will do anything to keep Nikki safe—and to stop the de Vincent curse from striking again.
The second book in Armentrout’s sexy romance suspense series opens the door to a second chance romance while giving a couple of twists to the mystery surrounding the arc. I’m halfway through and loving. The heroine is quite amusing with her strong personality and a generous helping of snark. Goodreads I Kindle
My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand. June 26, 2018
You may think you know the story. After a miserable childhood, penniless orphan Jane Eyre embarks on a new life as a governess at Thornfield Hall. There, she meets one dark, brooding Mr. Rochester. Despite their significant age gap (!) and his uneven temper (!!), they fall in love—and, Reader, she marries him. (!!!)
Or does she?
Prepare for an adventure of Gothic proportions, in which all is not as it seems, a certain gentleman is hiding more than skeletons in his closets, and one orphan Jane Eyre, aspiring author Charlotte Brontë, and supernatural investigator Alexander Blackwood are about to be drawn together on the most epic ghost hunt this side of Wuthering Heights.
I love reimagined classics, YA, ghost hunters, and Charlotte Bronte so yes, I am head over heels for this historical teen novel that takes teenagers Jane Eyre and Charlotte Bronte on the adventure of a lifetime. Goodreads I Kindle
