I know I am not the only reader out there, haunted by the hundreds of thousands of words, on thousands of pages, in the hundreds of books, on my TBR pile that has become my own, personal, little shop of horrors!
READ ME SEYMOUR SHEENA!!
So while I have some downtime and approaching my vacation, I am determined to tackle my TBR and my goal is to get through these five novels that have been patiently waiting for me to devour them. I can’t (won’t!) promise that I won’t succumb to One-Click-itis, and replace them rapid fire. But for now, I’m a gal with a plan, armed with my kindle and borrowed “Shut Up and Let Me Read” sign (thanks Tori!), by golly, I’m going in!

- Good Luck With That by Kristin Higgins – Yes, I’ve seen the rage tweets about the perceived fat shaming content. This is clearly a very polarizing book but it is always best to see for yourself before jumping on the pitchfork bandwagon and adding your voice to the hyperbolic fray. I believe Helyce is reviewing this one and I look forward to her take on it.
Releases August 7th
2. Fire In His Spirit (Fireblood Dragons Book 5) by Ruby Dixon It’s well known common knowledge that I am an alien-paranormal-sci-fy romance smut whore and there isn’t a thing I’d do to stop that intensely true characterization. To make my fixation worse, Ruby Dixon releases one of her gems nearly every month. And whether it be her Dragons, Aliens or Barbarians, each release is sexy, fun and fresh and did I mention she releases almost. every. month.
National treasure level sh!t. I thank the stars Mandi rec’d her to me last year.

3. Breakfast at Tiffanie’s by Pernille Hughes – Hughes is a new to me author and frankly, I thought the cover and title were adorable and the blurb interesting and together, I was sold.
Releases August 3rd.
4. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang – Rave reviews, hilarious quotes, and swoony excerpts have me climbing the walls (read: tbr pile) to experience this novel. Also, as a parent to an autistic daughter, I am especially touched and invested in reading this romance!
Out Now!
5. An American Marriage by Tayari Jones – Socially relevant and described as “haunting” (you guys!! I am so into all things that haunt!) and beautifully written, this is a look at the role injustice plays in the stability and durability of a marital bond. It was an Oprah Book club pick, and my own book club read it recently. I’m late to the party but I’m here now with my friggin hat and confetti sticks. I can’t wait to start this one!

Join me! Are you ready to stop cavalierly adding books to your TBR list (snort, hell no, and neither am I. Cavalierly AND enthusiastically adding books till I die!) Are you ready to pluck a few gems from your TBR list? If so, I’d love for you to share,

I am also the mother of a (now-adult) daughter with autism. She is very high-functioning and has what was termed, back in the day, Asperger’s Syndrome, although now she is classified as “high-functioning autism spectrum disorder” (don’t you love how the medical world reduces us to a handful of words?). Anyway, one of the issues she has with the popular culture is the inclusion of what she terms the “magical aspie”: you know, characters who can’t negotiate social cues but can calculate pi to 150 places or diagnose a patient by looking at their knuckles. But we have high hopes for THE KISS QUOTIENT since I think Hoang is herself “on the spectrum”.

Hey Deb!
I hope Kiss Quotient is a hit as well.
We also watch a medical drama, The Good Doctor that features a young, on the spectrum physician.
I am immersed in all things special needs!

I hear you on the ever growing tbr pile/mountain and admire your goal. All I can say (to borrow one of the above titles) is Good Luck With That.
