Sheena’s September of Samantha Chase

One More Moment by Samantha Chase
Series, Band on the Run #3
Released: September 4, 2018
Sourcebooks

When Charlotte Clark offers to pay for Julian Grayson’s coffee, the world-famous drummer assumes she wants something from him. But Charlotte has no idea who he is, and Julian can’t resist keeping up the charade—being incognito is a novelty and a relief. He’ll have to tell her…eventually. But as Charlotte cheerfully undertakes to transform his life, Julian realizes there’s something about her that gives him what he hasn’t felt in years: hope.

Samantha Chase novels aren’t super sexy. But what they are, what they consistently continue to be are full of heart, life, and romance. I always say if Chase ever let her kink slip,  if she ever pushed beyond the sensual tension, that she’s mastered, her books would be romance nirvana.  As it stands, they are emotional thrill rides and her latest release in the Band on the Run series, One More Moment, is no different. Julian is fresh off finally breaking ties with his toxic, unfaithful ex, whom he dumps in spectacular fashion.  The aftermath leaves him craving solitude and anonymity and when he finds it, he finds comfort in the authenticity it affords him in his interactions with others. When Charlotte crossed his path and believes the hugely famous and wealthy drummer is a charity case, the irony is impossible to ignore.  Charlotte is such a bright heroine, she’s so intrinsically good, without crossing over into pushover territory.  A genuine positive outlook and burning desire to be of service to her community, she was such a perfect match for Julian, who needed a bright sun to combat his perpetual grey and stormy demeanor. One More Moment is alittle opposites attract, and more, two halves making a romantically healthy whole.

Exclusive/A Touch of Heaven by Samantha Chase
Contemporary Romance
Previously released novellas

Exclusive
When little-known writer Taylor Scott is granted two weeks to interview a famous reclusive author, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime. So is the chance to rekindle her friendship with Mike Greene, who happens to be the author’s assistant. But as feelings deepen and time winds down, Taylor will have to choose between the story that could launch her career and an unexpected chance at love.

Second chance to reignite a long pined for love?  Yes, please!  The blurb felt a little 50 Shadesy, with the young ingenue, sent off to interview the successful, but inaccessible big shot and bam, hook up time!  I was totally game because- fun trope! Taylor and Mike had the chemistry that sent sparks all over, they also share a bond that hasn’t weakened with time, no matter the distance, or secret that threatens to either bind them closer or erect a wall keeping them apart.  There is a predictable twist, but that didn’t make it any less fun to enjoy this short, romp.

Grade: B

A Touch of Heaven
As Regan Amerson makes the emotional decision to sell their family home, her mother wins a home makeover from a reality TV show. Regan is furious, and jaded host Sawyer Bennett isn’t thrilled either. That is, until he meets Regan–and finds himself enamored by the fiercely independent beauty. She may want nothing to do with him, but Sawyer isn’t one to give up easily…

Regan can’t believe her mother’s choice to renovate and sell her family home. To add insult to injury, her mom enters and wins a home makeover, so not only is her beloved home being sold, it’s going to undergo a bunch of fancy changes.  Mom is thrilled, Regan…not so much. Their discord is tv gold that the reality tv production company are salivating to exploit.  Sawyer, the host of the home makeover show (insert image of your fav HGTV hunk, multiply by 10 and you have…Sawyer *bats lashes*) isn’t keen on his latest job, that is until he lays eyes on and connects with Raven.  With each day he grows more fond of her and is just as determined to make her family home beautiful as he is to burrow his way into her heart.  I found this story flirty and enjoyable.  My favorite part was the banter between Regan and her mother, lol. I admittedly laughed more than I swooned with this one.  Some stories need a little more and I believe A Touch of Heaven would work a little better as a full length, with more time to develop their connection, I’m not anti-Insta anything (hey, sometimes it works and is good, so  tuh!)  however, in this instance, I needed a little more to really buy into Sawyer/Regan.  Despite this, the novella is still standard, solid Chase and I recommend checking it out.

Grade: C

Both previously released separately, however, this novella duo is set to be released November 6, 2018!

Jaded host Sawyer Bennett?? Isn’t that the name of a romance writer? Is this a new thing? Just yesterday I posted a comment on SBTB about a book with a character named Zoe York, also a romance writer. Must be a new “meta” thing…or trolling elevated to an art form.
