I missed you guys! I’ve been sick, but I’m getting better and determined to crawl from my sick bed and bring you today’s lovey/lusty feature! Today’s sweetly saucy snippets are from the undisputed queen (in my realm) of alien-sci-fi-romance, Ruby Dixon’s latest release, Willa’s Beast. A moment of your time to fan-the-fuhk-OUT, please.
The year was 2017. The season, spring and I was heavily, heavily in the grips of alien smut fixation. It was all I read. Historical romance? Paranormal romance, contemporary rom-coms, biker MC club romance need not apply. If your hero wasn’t from outer space and your heroine a human trying to contend with their alien lover- I wasn’t interested. Alien smut is niche, so I’d blasted through the usual suspects and bless her heart, Mandi rec’d, Fire in His Blood. It wasn’t specifically ‘alien smut’ but dragons, so I read it and- PHENOMENAL! I loved the style and storytelling skill. Then Mandi said the magic words that completely changed my world. “She has an alien series too.”
Record scratch.
Who was this Ruby Dixon and where has she been hiding all these alien romances all my life!! To my utter joy, the series was already like 14 books deep! I was in hea-ven! I read them all. Back to back in rapid succession. I couldn’t believe the quality was so top notch for books released so frequently between her series, Dixon releases a (full length!!) novel every 1-2 months. Consistently. And they are good. Really, really good. Never phoned in and nor are they becoming shoddy rehashes of her earlier books. How she maintains such speed and quality is beyond me. I’m really in awe. If outerspace, alien, dragons and barbarians are your cup-o’, definitely, check out Ruby’s Books. Her romance is out of this world!
Which brings us back around to Willa’s Beast!
Beast. Creature. Monster.
Dangerous.
All of these things have been said about Gren.
Willa doesn’t believe it, though. She knows that monsters can sometimes come in appealing packages. She knows that for all of his snarls and fearsome appearance, he’d never hurt her.
And she knows she has to get Gren away from the Icehome camp, because no one will ever see him as a person, not when he attacks all who come close. Not when he’s tied and treated like an animal.
She’s going to save him…or fall in love. Maybe both. Willa doesn’t mind that he’s a beast, as long as he’s *her* beast.
Love in any language…
Gren’s gaze grows heated as he watches me, and I blush. “I guess there’s no hiding what I’m thinking.”
He touches his chest and says something, then reaches out to point at mine, a question in his eyes. No one ever told him about resonance, did they? He has no idea what’s going on, and I want to shake every single well-meaning person in that blue-skinned tribe for being so woefully clueless.“It’s normal,” I tell him, keeping my expression encouraging. “Actually, it’s not all that normal. It’s something special for you and me.”
My voice drops and I scoot a little closer to him on the blankets.
“Willa and Gren.”
“Willa and Gren,” he echoes, and then reaches out and caresses my jaw, his gaze devouring me. I shiver at that delicate touch, unable to take my eyes off of him. I love how he is so massive, so strong and dangerous, but he’s never been anything but gentle to me.
“I love you,” I whisper to him. “I don’t know how we managed to find each other in all this mess, but I’m glad we did.”
Alien’s do it best.
He looks up at me, heat in his eyes… Every freckle on my skin seems to glow in the firelight, and my body prickles in response, goosebumps rising on my arms. I don’t know what to do with myself—cover my boobs? Cross my legs? Preen and show off for him? This is all still new to me, though, so I do what feels natural… I reach for him. He snags my hand before I can touch him, and pulls my palm to his mouth, then gently rubs his mouth against it. His teeth brush against my skin, but it’s still the tenderest of gestures and I love it. He licks my palm, making me squirm, and then pulls me into his arms. My breasts brush against his chest fur and I bite back a moan. Gren watches my face intently, and then leans in and nuzzles at the side of my neck. More goosebumps skitter up and down my arms, and my breasts tighten in response. I’m panting as he licks at my neck, teasing my tender skin. It’s like I feel every brush of his tongue deep between my thighs, and I’m clenching reflexively every time he touches me.
“Gren,”
He murmurs something low under his breath, and then inhales deeply, closing his eyes. I wonder what it is he smells. He breaks our wild kiss, rubs his nose against mine, and then lowers me gently onto the furs. Oh. I can’t help but tremble with anticipation, lying back and watching him as he looms over me like some sort of dark god. He’s gorgeous. I don’t care that his face isn’t entirely human or his teeth are strange. His eyes are shining with intelligence and pleasure, and he’s my Gren. I love his big, furry body and his strong shoulders and careful, oversized hands. I love all of him. “You’re perfect to me,” I whisper…
*cue shivers!*
Willa’s Beast is out now and free on Kindle Unlimited!
Willa’s Beast, and any of the novels, technically, can be read as a stand alone, but so much of the experience is the beloved characters who bring their history and awesomeness forward to the newer tales. You miss the nuances of what it means when certain characters make certain jokes or make one decision or another. Ugh, this world is so rich, I strongly suggest investing your reading time into really immersing yourself.
Series:
Ice Planet Barbarians (Aliens!)
Icehome (Ice Planet spin off!)
Fireblood Dragons (Dragons!)
Corsairs (Alien Pirates- Yes, YES, you definitely want to see WTF this is about!)
Bedlam Butchers MC (She even has a MC Club series ya’ll!) I haven’t read these yet, but they are on my TBR list.
Are you a Ruby Dixon fan? Let me know, we can chat and compare squees!

Just started reading her recently—like what I’ve read so far—because some of her MC romances are part of the same overall series that includes Kati Wilde’s Hell Fire Riders books (which I love). Other books in the series are written by Ella Goode and Alexa Riley—and there are other series (like THE KING’S [adjective] BRIDE and retellings of Beauty & the Beast) where each of the four writes a different book. I do have some of Ruby’s alien romances on my tbr now. Hope to get to them soon!

I’ve read and enjoyed several Ruby Dixon books, but I don’t think I have quite the same love as you, Sheena! Hope you’re soon fully recovered from your malaise.
