Hello friends-I am entering panic mode where Christmas is concerned. I had been doing really well with the holiday shopping and thought I was exactly where I should be by this time with 6 days to go. But over the last couple of days I have been completely overwhelmed. This weekend is going to be crazy. As you can imagine, there has been little time for reading, so I have only one review for you today.
Chasing Forever by Kelly Jensen (This Time Forever #3)
MM Romance
Released: December 10, 2018
Riptide Publishing
There was something about the blurb for this book that made me think of the show Queer As Folk from the early 2000s. The character of Brian Kinney seemed similar to the character of Brian Kenway, featured in this story. A handsome man with a reputation for being a liar and a cheat-a man who could have anyone, knows it, and takes full advantage.
Then you have Malcolm Montgomery. Mal is recovering after being hit while out for a run. He’s nowhere near back to himself and he sick of the leg braces, the pain and most definitely the physical therapy.
One night while drowning his sorrows in a drink at a local bar, he notices Brian Kenway, but what he doesn’t realize is that Brian has also noticed him.
This was an adorable story of two people who find each other and fall in love. It had some very intense and heavy moments, but they are done very well and are extremely moving. I loved that Brian and Mal are older, close to 50. Both have had long term relationships and have struggled with relationships after those breakups. Mal is not one for the one-night-stand, where that all Brian does. Thing is, after Brian meets Mal, he knows right away that Mal is not going to be like his other encounters. They date and spend time together for a while before taking that next step. Their relationship is not without struggles. Mal is dealing with his injuries and being back at work. Brian has secrets in his past that he’d prefer to leave in the past, but in order to move forward he has to face them.
I really enjoyed the pace of this relationship. There are a couple of side stories that enhance the main couple rather than overtake them. Jensen is a new to me author, but I liked her writing style and I will check out the previous 2 books in this series.
