Wistful/Wanton Wednesday: Gone WILDE!

February 13, 2019 by Sheena 3 Comments

Happy Hump Day! Whew! I’ve missed you guys and our Wednesday hook ups! Well I kicked life’s ass out of my way this week, because last week, Kati Wilde dropped a surprise little novel, The Wedding Night before Christmas and I just can’t deal! I was introduced to Wilde’s work when Mandi rec’d Going Nowhere Fast, and it was so outstanding, there was simply nothing else for me to do but full on stan Kati, thrilling myself reading her catalog. Kati’s romances are this sublime balance of sweet and heat that never disappoints and The Wedding Night before Christmas is just the latest feather in her well adorned cap!

When an opportunity to take everything from the powerful family who destroyed his mother’s life falls into Caleb Moore’s lap, he needs help from the one person with more power and money than they have — business mogul, Audrey Clarke. The trick is getting her attention. So he approaches the infamous ice queen with an unusual proposition: marriage.

The odds of a snowball surviving in hell are better than the chances of a rich, classy lady like Audrey Clarke marrying a mechanic from the wrong side of the tracks. He only hopes that she might consider a business partnership when she’s finished laughing at his marriage proposal.

He never expects her to say yes — or that the ice queen could burn so hot. Because Audrey Clarke isn’t cold at all. And if Caleb’s not careful, the only thing he’ll give her for Christmas…is a broken heart.

So- first things first. This blurb does NOT do this story any justice. On first glance, it checks my boxes, avenging wrongs against family, sure, opposites attract, yep-sign me up, fake marriage, alright, I’m game. So I went into this knowing that it was a Wilde- so I’m definitely going to laugh and pearl clutch, but I’m not expecting anything terribly fresh- only what I got was precisely fantastically fresh! These characters are so freaking vibrant, especially Audrey- and I love how she was characterized and the respect Wilde showed to her experience. And Caleb? Totally my new book boyfriend. Together, in a plot rife with humor, unbelievable sweetness and no holds barred sex appeal, this story rang, bang and clanged all my bells!

Wistful…Acceptance

Emotion swells inside my chest, so big. So frightening. Because if Caleb sees all that, then he must know that I love him. Must know that, even now, the way that I can sit here so close—not because we’re kissing or in a sexual embrace but an emotionally intimate one—is a wordless display of how much I trust him, and how safe I feel… and how I know that he’ll take care of my heart, even if I don’t hold his. My voice is thick as I tell him,

“…I want you to know that I’m not like her, either. I won’t ever ask for more than you want to give—or for something you can’t give.”

Wanton…. Panty-gate!

My panties aren’t the issue here. Caleb is. Kissing me like he did. Saying things like he did. Every day, I’ll get my mouth on your pussy and eat you up. How could anyone be expected to function after that? Or think about anything else at all? When his voice is a gravelly promise and he doesn’t just kiss me but sucks on the tip of my tongue? That is not a mistletoe kiss. That’s a make-Audrey’s-heart-race kiss. That’s a make-Audrey’s-pussy-ache kiss. And that’s the other issue. Because my panties are wet but they aren’t bothering me. I can’t even feel them.

I can’t feel anything but slick hot need, and even though he’s not kissing me now, the need isn’t fading. Because I feel it and feel it and feel it, with my memory revisiting the heat of his mouth and the stroke of his tongue and everything he said, and everything’s aching now, and on fire, and I can’t breathe. We reach his truck. He unlocks the door and inside the cab is quiet and dark, and that will be good, but we’re at least thirty minutes from my home. Thirty minutes of not touching him or kissing him and just burning and squirming and trying to hold it in. It’s too long. But if I’m going to burn, then I’m going to burn as hot as I can.

So when Caleb helps me up into the seat, I shove my fingers into his hair and kiss him again. It’s wet and greedy and his reaction is exhilarating. A harsh groan rumbles against my mouth and his rough hands grip my hips and drag me closer, sideways on the edge of the seat with him standing in the open door, so I can wrap my legs around his waist. So I can grind against him, against his thick erection, and I feel my panties now, between us, there shouldn’t be anything between us. I whimper with frustration, and the sound of his groan is suddenly deeper, rougher…

Wild!

The rasp of my zipper is loud in the quiet garage. So is the harsh breath she sucks in, her body stiffening. I mold my palm to her backside, gently massaging as I reassure her:

“I’m not taking that yet, Audrey. That’s for upstairs. Not bent over a car with your skirt around your knees in a dirty garage, as if this is just a cheap and filthy fuck.”

Her tension vanishes as a laugh shakes through her. “A cheap and filthy fuck sounds really hot.”

“Hell yeah, it does. But we’ll save it for another time. Right now, I just want to wet my dick with all these pussy juices.”

And get her used to feeling my bare cock. I grip my shaft and follow the same hot path my fingers took over the curve of her ass to the heaven between her legs, the crown leaving a faint trail of pre-cum over her skin. The dim light doesn’t penetrate the shadows between our bodies. I should have flipped on the halogens so I could watch my cock slide through the sultry seam of her cunt. But, fuck. Maybe it’s best this way. If I could see what I was doing, my control might burn away even faster. As it is, the sensation of all that scalding wetness brings me right to the edge of coming, pressure building at the base of my spine.

The Wedding Night before Christmas is out now and also available via Kindle Unlimited!

A surprise Kati Wilde! Oh joy! But where is the next Hellfire Riders MC book? I’ve been waiting for Stone & Cherry’s story for over a year. I know she said she had some publication conflicts and wasn’t permitted to published another full-length novel within a certain time period of GOING NOWHERE FAST, but surely that timeframe has passed by now! Anyway, I must be happy with anything new from Kati. Off to the kindle store…

@DiscoDollyDeb – she sent the first chapter of Stone & Cherry’s book in her newsletter last week – no release date yet, but this is the only book she’s working on right now and hopes to finish soon (in Kati-time). I’m dying to get my grubby little paws on that book! Love her writing.

@Elva—thanks for the update. I can’t wait for Stone & Cherry’s book…it’s gonna be so much catnip, based on what happened between them at the end of Gunner & Anna’s book (another of my favorite Wilde books).
