Sheena’s Wistfully Wanton Wednesday: Intergalactic Love!

September 18, 2019 by Sheena 3 Comments

I’m a sucker for Sexy, Fantasy, Sci-Fi Romance. I’ve been on an Alien Abduction bender for the better part of a year and I don’t want to be saved. Send me more. Rec me to oblivion with more and more of this deliciously fun to read trope!

I came across Alana Khan’s Zar whilst trolling through Kindle Unlimited (a treasure trove!) and the cover screamed: “READ ME BISH!” and I just had to oblige.

Then I read the blurb and knew my alien romance spidey senses had steered me right! A new series, and instead of Blue Barbarians, Fire Dragons or Reptile hunks- we have Lion-Men!

Snatched from Earth…
Bound for slavery…
Can love offer escape?

Kidnapped from Earth, aboard a slave ship, Anya is thrown together with Zar, a handsome half-lion gladiator, and forced to breed or be killed!

Zar’s life is an unbroken nightmare consisting of sleep, eat, fight, and repeat. He’s not interested in helping Anya, and he’s definitely not interested in love. Except she’s the first female to ever touch his heart – or remind him he has a soul…

Yep- right up my twisty, turny alley! Though I did have a brief moment of panic. You see, I have serious ARPTSD (Alien Romance Post-Traumatic-Stress Syndrome. A few years ago I read a romance (shall remain nameless because it still makes me rant ya’ll!) with a similar premise and to say I hated the “surprise” ending would be a huge understatement. But nevertheless, I decided to give this a go because I just can’t resist mutual alien captivity and damaged alien heroes who don’t believe they deserve or have the capacity to love (plus he has a mane & tail! Whipppisssh yasssss!) Zar the male was just what I expected. Stoic, sexy, cerebral and dangerous. Anya was his perfect counterpart. A real Earth girl’s Earth girl. Never content to give up, brave to a fault and nobodies victim- yet vulnerable in her way. I always connect with heroines of this mettle so I had no problem rooting them on! No cliffhanger, and more substance than I expected, so I was pleasantly surprised. Usually my beloved Sci-Fi romance practically bludgeons you over the head with the sex, (which I like, lemme have it!) but here, the explicit sensuality is more precisely placed and though plentiful, never feels gratuitous or like overkill. There seemed to be a deliberate attempt at pace setting so the story never feels rushed, there were only a couple of moments where I wanted things to move along at a faster clip. Not enough to put me off, but enough that I noticed. There were also sweet moments that made me swoony and heated chemistry that checked all of my boxes. Overall, an indulgence!

Can You Feel the Love Tonight?

Even though I’ve sparred with all of these gladiators many times, I should be evaluating their strengths and weaknesses. I should be looking for vulnerabilities to exploit in the future when my life may depend on it. But I can’t pay attention to anything other than Anya’s beautiful face. I’ve never seen her other than close up, in the cell. Now I can watch her from a distance. If anything, she’s even lovelier with this span between us. I don’t know if I ever really noticed her heart-shaped face, the delicate way her eyebrows frame her eyes, or the fact that her neck is as graceful as a dancer’s. My heart hitches in my chest. I can’t lose her. I can’t lose this female. We can’t land on Hyperion. We’ll have to make a stand here on this ship. We have to finalize our plans on how to overthrow this vessel, and we have to act soon.

The Lion KING (peen)!

Before I can even initiate a rhythm, she begins to move. Her hands are on my shoulders, and she uses her upper body strength to ride me. I take a moment to really look at her lovely face. She is so passionate, so intent on the powerful feelings coursing through her. Her head is pressed against the wall as she positions herself against my pelvis to get the best angle and pressure. I could watch her like this for hoaras, but this isn’t going to take hoaras. She’s already close. She changes her angle almost imperceptibly and I realize this ratchets her passion up a notch. She’s moaning louder, pressing harder, breathing faster. I match her rhythm exactly, and her excitement increases to a level I didn’t know was possible. I lean down and nip her in the shelter between her neck and shoulder and that catapults her over the edge. Her inner walls grip my cock, hard and pulsing, which leads to a cataclysmic orgasm of my own.

Zar is book 1 of the Galaxy Gladiators series and I’m glad I came across this novel so that I could discover Khan. I’m officially a fan and if this romantic fiction type floats your boat, I suspect you will be too!

Grade B
