Angela: Hold on tight… I have a LIST. I feel like every book I want to read this year releases in October. (So many I’m not even going to list them all here.)
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab 10/6 Fantasy– I’ve actually already read this one, simply because I couldn’t resist. AND IT WAS FABULOUS. This is a story of a woman who makes a deal with the devil in order to be free and have nothing holding her down, only she doesn’t exactly get what she expects. No one remembers her from that day forward, until 300 years go by and a man in a bookshop suddenly does. Review will post on release tomorrow!
In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren 10/6 Contemporary/ Holiday Romance– I read this one early as well. Think Groundhog Day meets Hallmark Holiday movie. The heroine has to relive the same family and friend Christmas vacation until she gets it right. This was super cute, I really enjoyed. Review posted here.
Mistletoe and Mr. Right (Moose Springs, Alaska Book 2) by Sarah Morgenthaler 10/6 Contemporary Romance– The follow-up to The Tourist Attraction, I’m more than ready to get back to Moose Springs and find out how Rick and Lana fall in love.
The Ippos King (Wraith Kings #3) by Grace Draven 10/6 Fantasy- I had this in my TBR for last month, but Ms. Draven put off the release date to October. I finally have a copy of this in my hot little hands and am diving in.
Black Sun(Between the Earth and the Sky #1) by Rebecca Roanhorse 10/13 Fantasy– First of all, the cover for this book is breathtaking. Secondly, I have been a huge fan of this author’s work since her debut fantasy. And lastly, how can anyone resist this:
From the New York Times bestselling author of Star Wars: Resistance Reborn comes the first book in the Between Earth and Sky trilogy, inspired by the civilizations of the Pre-Columbian Americas and woven into a tale of celestial prophecies, political intrigue, and forbidden magic.
The Once and Future Witches by Alix E Harrow 10/13 Fantasy– I fell in love with this author’s voice last year when I read The Ten Thousand Doors of January. This is a story that combines fantasy, magic, and the suffrage movement and I was thrilled to get an early copy.
Love is a Rogue (Wallflowers Vs Rogues) by Lenora Bell 10/27 Historical Romance- Lenora Bell has fast become an auto-buy author for me in this genre. I’m also a big fan of the wallflower meets and reforms her rogue trope.
Crazy, Stupid Bromance (Bromance Book Club #3) by Lyssa Kay Adams 10/27 Contemporary Romance– The third addition in a truly enjoyable contemporary series. This one features Noah and Alexis and it’s taken everything I have not to read early.
Also check out:
The Archive of the Forgotten (A Novel from Hell’s Library Book 2) by A.J. Hackwith 10/6 Fantasy
The Hollow Places: A Novel by T. Kingfisher 10/6 Horror (I was totally freaked out while laughing out loud. Highly recommend.)
The Vicar and the Rake: A Gay Historical Romance (Society of Beasts Book 1) by Annabelle Greene 10/12 M/M Historical Romance
The Midnight Bargain by C.L. Polk 10/13 Historical Romantic Fantasy
Snapped (Playbook, The Book 4) by Alexa Martin 10/20 Contemporary Romance
Kini: My TBR is flowing and I am trying to chip away at this October releases. Some of the ones I am most excited about:
Mistletoe and Mr. Right (Moose Springs, Alaska Book 2) by Sarah Morgenthaler 10/6 Contemporary Romance – I enjoyed the first in this series and I was super intrigued by the secondary characters.
After Hours Redemption by Kianna Alexander 10/13 Contemporary Romance– The cover for this is stunning! It is also a second chance at love- One click!
Sweet on You by Carla de Guzman 10/19 Contemporary Romance– The blurb mentions prank wars and I am here for it. Also the cover is very adorable!
Call Me Maybe by Cara Bastone 10/20 Contemporary Romance Audible Original. As part of the unofficial and non-existent Cara Bastone fan club I have insider info on her upcoming audio series. Okay in all seriousness I got this info from her agent. Per Tara at One Track Literary here is a little description of the series-
The series features characters who only meet via talk or text/web – no pictures, no idea what they look like, etc. They’re a little younger, featuring millennial modern dating in a tech-y world.
I can’t wait! (no link as of yet)
If the Boot Fits by Rebekah Weatherspoon 10/27 Contemporary Romance– Sexy cowboy wearing a tux on the cover. Okay twist my arm to read this. Also it’s a Cinderella retelling. Can’t wait to read this.
What is on your radar for this month? Anything you are super excited about? Waited months for? Tell us!

For the rest of October, I’m looking forward to:
Molly O’Keefe’s CHRISTMAS AT THE RIVERVIEW INN is a revisit to an earlier series, this time focusing on a younger character who works in the Inn’s kitchen. O’Keefe also has another Christmas-themed book releasing this month, HOW MY BROTHER’S BEST FRIEND STOLE CHRISTMAS.
Part of the same Kane Family series as O’Keefe’s HOW MY BROTHER’S BEST FRIEND STOLE CHRISTMAS is Julie Kriss’s MY FAKE CHRISTMAS FIANCÉ. Obviously a fake relationship trope, but Kriss has a way of individualizing each trope she tackles.
I am looking forward to Ruth Cardello’s THE SECRET ONE. I think this is a series that is best read in order because there’s a “big shocking secret” about the Corisi family and how they might be connected to the family of an arch-rival that has been running through the earlier books.
Despite how prolific she is, I only recently read my first Lauren Blakely (ONE NIGHT ONLY), but I enjoyed it so much, I’m eager to read the next book in the series, ONE EXQUISITE TOUCH, which appears to be a business-rivals-to-lovers romance featuring two MCs who own competing Vegas hotels.
RETURN BILLIONAIRE TO SENDER by Annika Martin was postponed from its original drop date of September 29, so I’m hoping the new date of October 20 is the real deal.
At the end of the month, the prolific Clare Connelly wraps up her Montebellos series with BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN, which appears to be a Beauty & the Beast retelling featuring the reclusive brother from a large Greek-Italian family. I expect plenty of angsty heartache in this one.
