Melinda: I discovered Nalini Singh’s books back in 2012 but was overwhelmed at the idea of her long series. At that time I was reading more literary fiction and general fiction with romantic elements but have always loved paranormal stories, having grown up reading Christopher Pike’s series. But my library had the entire Psy/Changeling series and once I read Slave to Sensation, I was so hooked! I tore through the first 5 books and then started buying the rest and binged Guild Hunter as well. From there I started to look for similar authors and books and became a true romance reader. So Nalini was essentially my bridge to Romancelandia and then I became one of her biggest fans.
Melanie: I’ve been a lifelong romance reader and I actually discovered Nalini Singh through her contemporaries. I was convinced that paranormal was never going to be my cup of tea and that I needed the main characters in my romances to be fully human. Melinda had been after me to give paranormal a try for a while and finally in 2019, after much convincing from Melinda, I decided I was going to try Nalini’s paranormal series for the first time. To give you an idea of how it went, I started Slave to Sensation in February of 2019 and by August of that year, I was current on every novel, novella, and short story Nalini Singh had ever published in the world of the Psy/Changeling series. This is also the point at which I’m now legally obligated to tell Melinda, “YES, you were right!”
Melinda: And I would never rub that in…or something like that lol. So Nalini was basically my bridge to becoming a romance reader and honestly changed my life. Because now I read romance almost exclusively, review romance, and a million other things lol! Plus romance is what brought Melanie and I together! So when Melanie *finally* read Nalini it was so special to me, I was cheering her on the whole time and got so excited for each book or story arc she was getting to.
Melanie: Since it’s been a couple of years for me and even longer for Melinda, we figured it would be fun to buddy read, or rather reread, a series that is close to both of our hearts. Also, Psy/Changeling is so dense in plot and characters, the first time I read the series, I was just inhaling everything, trying to figure out where each story was headed. This time, we can sort of relax and revel in the stories without wondering what happens next, really soak in the details and try to catch some of the Easter eggs I’m sure Nalini has peppered throughout the series. Our plan is to do some deep dives into the world of Psy/Changeling, gush over some of our favorite characters and romances while also getting into the bones of why these books have remained so popular even 15 years after the release of the very first title in the series. We’d love to have you come along on our rereading journey, whether you’re a long time fan of the series or picking up these books for the very first time.

I’ve always wanted to try one of these, but I’m not really a series/first book kinda person. Are they too complex to just dive into a random one?
Melanie says
Hi! So, each book focuses on a different couple but there’s also an overarching plot that gets furthered in each book. So, I would not advise jumping into a random book, I do think it would leave you confused ultimately.

Will there be a schedule or should we just plan to read and come back to read the respective post?

I’ve added a menu tab at the top of the home page where you will be able to find all of the posts.

Great! I tend to do limited binging. I’m still making my way through IAD. Though, some of these will be re-reads. It’s been so long that I should start from the beginning.

It’s taken me three years because I prefer to space them out rather than binging, but I finally finished the first series arc in November, then rolled into the second arc this week with Silver Silence. I’m so glad I still have three more Trinity books to look forward to!
