Downloaded LESSONS IN SIN this morning (“priest breaking his vow of chastity” trope, ftw) and the pages are flying by! So much transgressive catnip: priest, age-gap, power imbalance (he’s the principal of her all-girls Catholic school)—but it’s all ok ‘cos she just turned 18, lol!
By the way, I went to check out WRATH because I’ve liked some of Ella James’s previous books—and Amazon is showing its publication date as July 28. More transgressive goodness: m/m stepbrothers with the antagonists-to-lovers trope. Bring it! (But not, apparently, until July 28.)
Deb, I love your recommendations! I always read your comments – you’ve introduced me to so many new authors. That being said, I didn’t even make it half-way through the sample of Lessons in Sin. It’s got my catnip too, but all the trigger warnings for anyone who’s seen Spotlight or is following the residential school revelations up here in Canada (discoveries of 251 unmarked graves of Indigenous children in Kamloops, BC, and 750 in Saskatchewan). And there’s more to come I’m sure. I can’t celebrate Canada Day in the same way this year, and I can’t read about threats of corporeal punishment in Catholic-run schools. Hard, hard pass.
Shoot. Corporal punishment, not corporeal.
