Rogue Ghosts & Other Miscreants (The Guild Codex: Warped Book 3) by Annette Marie and Rob Jacobsen– Another great book in this world. The Guild Codex; Warped features Kit and his partner, Lienna, and this time they are put on a top-secret kidnapping case by their captain. And it’s to track down the criminal known as The Ghost, aka the Crystal Druid, aka Zak.
I feel like this is a pivotal book in this series and this world. Readers not only get to see Kit and Lienna, but Zak plays a huge part in their case. There are also cameo appearances by the Crow and Hammer, Darius King (and can we PLEASE get this man his own spin-off series), and even Robin Page. It leaves off in a place that fans of this world will be familiar and I’m interested in seeing Kit’s side of things.
Rogue Ghosts is a fabulous lead-up to the next and newest spin-off in the Guild Codex world which will feature Zak and be out in September.
Evil Twin by Kati Wilde- Set in her Deadlands series, this novella-length story features two main characters, both twins, who are out to take over their prospective kingdoms. Only their plans go awry and they end up with each other and a third abandoned kingdom.
This was pure smutty, adventurous fun. Which is exactly what I expect when I open a Kati Wilde book. The main characters are well-matched, devious, and easy to fall for in all their anti-hero goodness.
Hunted By The Alien Assassin (A SciFi Alien Warrior Romance) (Mates of the Kaluma Book 1) by Ella Maven– I’m really becoming addicted to this author’s science fiction romances. This book is a spin-off from her Drixonian Warriors series and features a group of aliens readers have met further on in that series.
These are such fun, sexy, easy reads. I gobble them up on release day and have zero regrets. This is Bosa and Karina’s story and even though there are some dark undertones, their romance hits just right. I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series, which releases in September.
Wormwood Summer (San Amaro Investigations Book 1) and The Oak Wood Throne (San Amaro Investigations Book 2) by Kai Butler– I’m so mad at myself for letting this sit unread in my KU library for so long. As soon as I finished the first book I went back to Amazon and dove right into book two.
This series features Parker Ferro, a private investigator who is part fae, and in Wormwood Summer has been called to the side of the Summer Queen to she plans to collect on a favor. But his investigations are fraught with danger when he also draws the attention of the nearby werewolf pack.
Okay, that is oversimplifying it a bit, because this author’s plots tend to be super complex and there is a lot going on, but when they wrap up in the end so satisfying. The world-building is interesting and felt fresh despite the usual paranormal characters represented.
Kit and his detective boyfriend Nick’s relationship keeps building at a steady pace and I can’t wait to see what comes next for this couple. I’ve already put book three on my TBR for next year.

I really liked EVIL TWIN, but I do think reading the other Dead Lands books first (especially THE MIDWINTER MAIL-ORDER BRIDE) makes it a richer experience. Now I’m on the countdown to SHERIFF’S BAD BEAR, supposedly at the end of this month. Fingers crossed!
