Does this ever happen to you? A book looks interesting, but then you see the hero’s name and it’s the name of someone you know? The hero of one of the above books has the same name as one of my coworkers. I absolutely know I cannot read it because I wouldn’t be able to visualize anyone but my coworker and…oh no indeed!
Perhaps I should be grateful, @DDD, that I have aphantasia and don’t visualize anyone or anything!
Several years ago, I was two books into a really good series, but when I got the third book, I discovered the hero had the exact same name, first and last, as one of my daughter’s former boyfriends. It was quite an uncommon name so that made it doubly baffling. But I absolutely knew I’d be unable to read that book, so alas, I left the series hanging. Lol
What are the odds?! I suspect that I would found that disconcerting, too.
