I know how hard it is to wade through the Kindle Unlimited offerings, so I’m going to update y’all on what I’ve found and loved in the last few weeks.
Xiveri Mates by Elizabeth Stephens
Science Fiction Romance
I read the first five books in this series, back to back, last week. Like gobbled them up and couldn’t stop turning pages. Which is weird for me since I tend to hop around from genre to genre, not reading the same one twice in a row. I’m kind of surprised that this series hasn’t garnered more attention, especially since Sci-Fi romance is all the rage right now. This is such a well-written series, easy to read and follow, with strong protagonists who only bend for each other.
Books one, two, four, and five are all characters that appear in each other’s stories and it’s easy for readers to follow along as their relationships develop. Book three was a stand-alone, that I almost skipped to get to book four, but was glad I didn’t because I ended up really enjoying. There are some dark themes, which seem to be a trend in this genre, but I think each and every book handles these themes with care. I like that there is a diverse cast of humans, aliens, religions, and backgrounds. I also really, REALLY enjoy the female friendships that only grow and blossom with each new installment. I love how loyal these women are to each other, and how fierce they are in each other’s defense.
I’m trying to think of a series like it and really can’t. I do think fans of Ruby Dixon, Zoey Draven, or Anna Carven will definitely enjoy. I have to take a break to read some review books, but then I’m delving back into this world and inhaling the last five books.

Stolen Sorcery & Other Misadventures (The Guild Codex: Warped Book 4) by Annette Marie
Urban Fantasy
I really love this author and this world. I kind of stumbled upon it when I picked up the first book in the original series. Now, several spin-offs and many books later, I’m still setting everything aside to read each new release on release day.
Kit and Lienna are back and they are still smack dab in the middle of a mess at the precinct. Agent Söze has created havoc by taking over in the guise of an internal affairs investigation, but Kit knows something nefarious is going on, he just has to figure out what exactly is happening.
This was another roller coaster ride of an adventure, with non-stop action, Kit’s ridiculous humor, and even a budding romance (finally) between him and Lienna. I was happy to see cameos by Robin and Zylas, with Zylas once again kicking ass and taking names. Darius plays a big part in this mystery, and I’m thrilled that the title of the next book seems to point to him being a centerpiece going forward. I’m kinda hoping there will be a Darius spin-off.

Forever Your Rogue by Erin Langston
Historical Romance
I only picked this book up because Mel gushed about it so hard. And I’m glad I did. Such a fantastic romance, and from a debut author no less. The letters! The found family! The rogue becoming a dedicated family man! The romance was so well done, and the sex scenes super hot. Everything about this romance appealed to me and I am looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
Mel does a great job in her review of laying out just why you should definitely pick it up if you are a fan of historical romance. See her review here.

Gray Witch, Gray Tidings, and Gray Court by Hailey Edwards
Urban Fantasy
I caught up with this series a few weeks ago. Hailey Edwards is one of my favorite writers in the urban fantasy genre, and it’s always a treat when she surprises her readers with a new release.
There is a lot going on in this series, from Rue still trying to figure out her family dynamic and also her romantic relationship with Asa. They are mates, but being mates with him is a challenge… in more ways than one. There are also some big changes going on at Black Hat with Rue being smack dab in the middle. Clay is still Clay, and I love him. Colby is still Colby, and continues to be one of my favorite characters ever. These last three books seem to be setting up something big that is sure to shake up Rue’s life.
I won’t even try to go into plot and series arc specifics, but just know that this series is a suspenseful, emotional thrill ride. I love the found family and romantic relationships, that are both established and developing. I *think* there are two more books left to come out in the series and I am more than ready to find out how everyone gets their HEA.

Angela, I love these posts – thanks for them, particularly the SciFi recs. I think you are primarily responsible for my Zoey Draven and Ruby Dixon collections. :-)
I wasn’t as taken with Forever Your Rogue as everyone else seems to be, but it is nice that there are still people writing this type of historical. Everything seems to go in cycles, but historicals were my first romance books and I think I will always want to read them.

Did you try the Ignisar series by Jess K Hardy?
Laurel says
I need to try that. Thanks!

This post is super helpful for helping me navigate new series in KU, esp since I seem to have similar tastes with you. Thank you!

There are soooo many KU books, I can’t tell you how many I open and read the first chapter or so and then return. It’s always a treat to find a series that I really enjoy.
